The Commercial Director, APAC is a key member of the CRM Asia Pacific Leadership Team, providing strategic leadership at the Area and Country level. Reporting to the Division Vice President, Commercial Asia Pacific and working closely with the respective functional leaders and country General Managers to set vision and strategy to deliver sales, margin and market share goals. Formulate, implement and execute short-term and long-term business plans for sustainable growth and market share development. This role leads a team based in Singapore, responsible for Commercial Excellence and Marketing in Asia Pacific.
Responsibilities
Strategy & Business Development
Work with the APAC Leadership team and global stakeholder to develop and implement key strategic initiatives that drive sustainable, profitable growth.
Partner with country GMs to set strategies to achieve and exceed sales target by leveraging thorough data analysis.
Provide leadership and advice to strengthen the Division’s strategic growth agenda and ensure respective countries are aligned with strategic priorities.
Work with commercial leaders to drive sales execution and build a high-performance sales organization.
Marketing Leadership
Define and lead the APAC CRM marketing vision and strategy, providing functional leadership and innovative ideas to support strategic formation and viability testing.
Develop and implement both short-term and long-term business plans for sustainable growth and capturing market share.
Establish a healthcare professional, customer, and patient-centric organization to identify product and communication opportunities that drive market share.
Navigate ambiguous information, anticipate market activities, and proactively develop contingency plans in response to competitive, customer, and governmental volatility.
Utilize comprehensive knowledge of revenue drivers, market insights, financial acumen, and healthcare markets to ensure organizational alignment with strategic and business objectives.
Lead new product launch efforts in APAC, from the formulation of business cases and gaining global approval to the creation and execution of pre-launch and launch plans, while establishing metrics to measure and track the effectiveness of marketing plans.
Oversee the development and execution of country-specific marketing plans, including market definition, segmentation, targeting, positioning, and all aspects of the marketing mix (product, place/distribution, price, and promotion).
Develop strong business and competitive intelligence to support the effective development and implementation of marketing strategies.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders, key customers, media, and government.
Commercial Excellence
Responsible for developing and executing the overall commercial strategy to drive business growth and operational efficiency.
Oversees the Commercial Excellence function, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic goals and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Develop and implement the commercial excellence strategy to support business objectives and drive revenue growth.
Work closely with other senior leaders in sales, marketing, finance, and operations to ensure cohesive and aligned commercial activities.
Conduct in-depth market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive threats, and adjust strategies accordingly.
Drive innovation in commercial practices and manage change initiatives to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, partners, and industry leaders.
Provide regular updates to the executive team on commercial performance, strategic initiatives, and market conditions.
Qualifications
Tertiary qualifications in biomedical / medical science, business, marketing or related field; MBA preferred.
Experience/ Skills
Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in commercial roles, with significant experience in a leadership position.
Medical device industry experience preferred.
10+ years of experience in Marketing Management with well-established global company, ideally in large market(s).
P&L and organizational leadership responsibilities strongly preferred.
Strategic planning and analytical skills – proven ability to identify business challenges and propose action plans.
Innovative and creative – demonstrate ability to leverage consumer insights to identify and evaluate creative ideas, focusing on those that will create sustainable competitive advantage.
