What the day will look like

  • Support continued development of Aon’s newly released global physical climate risk tool, Climate Risk Monitor, to reflect client needs.
  • Consider opportunities to grow capabilities within APAC Climate Risk Advisory based on market needs, e.g., nature/biodiversity, health, etc.
  • Develop appropriate marketing materials and documentation for internal and external usage.
  • Support continued development of other climate risk related tools and analytics to support climate advisory activities.
  • Contribute to identifying and maximising market growth opportunities for climate risk advisory services in the APAC region based on market needs, such as evolving regulatory requirements in jurisdictions within APAC and responding to client demand.
  • Support Aon's broader view of risk analytics for insurance and commercial risk clients.
  • Support catastrophe loss model evaluation in Australia, New Zealand and Asia and work with Aon’s Impact Forecasting team to develop solutions for climate-conditioning these models.
  • Support the development of academic partnerships across the APAC region to build Aon’s reputation and advisory offering on climate in the region.
  • Support Climate Risk Advisory colleagues deliver on growing client demand for climate related advisory and analytics in the APAC region.
  • Collaborate with client account leads and the APAC Climate Risk Advisory team on strategies for introducing climate change solutions and impacts to risk capital clients.
  • Develop thought leadership material and support Aon's "source of truth" initiative for the APAC region with regards to robust, granular, and objective climate analytics.
  • Ensure representation from Aon at key industry and academic conferences by presenting on topics relevant to our clients and on panels, while also using the opportunity to engage with current clients and prospects.

How this opportunity is different

This exciting role is a newly created position within our growing APAC Climate Risk Advisory (CRA) function. CRA is a cross-disciplinary group of natural catastrophe modellers, climate scientists, ERM experts, engineers and data scientists that provide an advisory service to support our clients’ understanding of the financial implications of physical climate risk to their business. In this role, you will play an integral part in accelerating Aon’s Climate Risk Advisory and associated product development across the APAC region. Your purpose will be to support property renewals, enhance advisory offerings, and improve value propositions for climate across risk capital. You will also contribute to strengthening Aon’s reputation as a trusted advisor on climate, through activities such as thought leadership and academic partnerships. This role will make both a significant contribution to developing and scaling Aon’s products and services that underpin our growing Climate Risk Advisory offering in the APAC region, while also having the opportunity to present results and develop solutions in front of clients.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • Experience in coding or interacting with common data platforms such as Excel, SQL, R/Matlab/Python.
  • An understanding of climate science and proven experience building climate-related tools for client consumption or being able to address client problem statements through analytical solutions.
  • A strong communicator, with a consultative approach, that is able to present and clearly articulate complex analytical results to clients.
  • A creative and innovative mindset, bringing new ideas to grow revenue.
