The Chemist is part of the pioneer team in the startup of EVAL production line. The Chemist is responsible for the setup of QC Laboratory at the new EVAL site, including management and training of Laboratory analysts, and laboratory system establishment and management to achieve safe and stable commissioning and startup of the new plant.
Responsibilities:
Interpret laboratory results that are outside of the technical ability of the Lab Analysts.
Review all process and final product test results to check for validity and possible quality-related issues.
Assist quality lab manager in classification for final product and compounding lots.
Assist quality lab manager to develop and implement QC specifications and standards.
Assist quality lab manager to establish lab system according to HSEQ requirements.
Conduct method development and validation, review and upkeep SOP of test procedures, calibration procedures, and analytical instruments.
Analyse, review and troubleshoot reliability issues of laboratory equipment and analysis problems and develop practical solutions.
Liaise with vendors to troubleshoot and maintain laboratory equipment.
Develop, implement, and follow calibration plan for equipment to ensure lab data is always accurate, consistent, and repeatable.
Manage lab external agency audits and management systems certification compliance.
Support Manufacturing, Quality, Sales, and Product Management functions.
Assist lab manager, production, or other departments with special projects, as needed.
Lead special lab projects and new grade trials.
Implement and participate in safety and quality improvement activities.
Evaluate reported results for consistency with plant process conditions.
Train laboratory personnel on new instruments and procedures as needed.
Conduct internal audits on the proper execution of test methods.
Liaise with suppliers, execute procurement process and receipt.
Monitor and follow up on daily lab analysis results for accuracy and troubleshooting.
Tasks as assigned by QC Manager.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in chemistry or related field.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in analytical lab with manufacturing facility.
Experience required in new laboratory setup and system establishment.
Experience required with GC, ICP, GC-MS, Antek, KF, IR, UV, Extruder, DSC etc.
Experience required in statistical process control and statistical quality control.
Experience preferred in polymer testing and analytical techniques.
