Chemical Technician

Position: Chemical Technician / West / 12 hours shift / Up to $3,700

The Chemical Technician is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the operations of the process units and equipment by measuring, recording, and controlling process operating parameters. He/She is also expected to diagnose and rectify systems and components faults in accordance with established procedures and specifications and to ensure that the process units and equipment operate safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities:

1. Perform minor maintenance
2. Perform checks, start-up and shutdown operations on process equipment such as pumps and compressors.
3. Carry out filter changes
4. Isolate piping systems for plant start-up, shutdowns, product grade change, and troubleshooting operations
5. Adjust process parameters to optimize process operations under supervision of Supervisors
6. Commission and decommission process equipment
7. Perform emergency shutdown of process equipment
8. Proper handling and blending of non-conforming and off-spec products
9. Prepare plant equipment for maintenance
10. Prepare chemicals, including mixing and dilution, for process operations
11. Perform inter-tank transfers of chemicals and products based on established quality procedures.
12. Perform emergency response activities and drills

Requirements:

1. NITEC or Diploma in Chemical Process Technology
2. At least 3 years working experience as Process Technician in a chemical industry
