Be responsible for technical support, maintenance and daily operations in relation to all exhibitions at the museum (as part of a team).
Co-ordinate and assist in the setup of exhibit components, ranging from simple environmental structures to complex visitor-interactive exhibits.
Assist in the preparation of documents and proposals for Museum Services team.
Assist in liaison work with external institutions/organizations regarding exhibitions technical support.
Assist in setup of events and exhibition programs.
Assist during exhibition shipment load in/out when required (night shift, when applicable).
Other duties as directed.
Job Requirements
Education & Certification
Preferably a Diploma in Museum based qualifications, Technical Theatre, Fine Arts, Audio Production, Entertainment Industries, Event Management, Electronics.
Possess a valid Work at Height certification and Scissors Lift or Vertical Platform Lift operator’s license.
Experience
At least 3 years’ experience working as a technician within a museum, theatre, live entertainment, or relevant sector.
Other Prerequisites
Experience in exhibition setup and art handling.
Be able to focus generic lighting fixtures.
Comfortable working at height.
Experience in setting up and operating basic audio systems.
Experience in setting up and operating basic lighting systems.
Experience in setting up and operating basic video projection systems.
Proficient in Mac & Windows operating systems.
Proficient in Microsoft Office software; Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
Good reading comprehension skills.
Desirable:
Experience programming Helvar Lighting System / knowledge of DALI protocol.
Experience in video projectors, edge blending, 3D projection mapping and media servers (e.g. MadMapper, Qlab, ProPresenter).
Experience with Virtual Reality systems.
Basic carpentry skills and workshop experience.
Basic electrical maintenance skills including soldering and wiring.
Team player while also able to work independently without close supervision when needed.
