The Business Development Manager is responsible for pursuing sales opportunities to sell Geotechnical Instrumentation and monitoring, Site Investigation, and related testing services to clients across the Construction Industry. Reporting directly to the Sales Director (Asia), the BDM is responsible for driving and achieving growth with High Touch Accounts and by prospecting for new opportunities with new clients. The role is expected to exercise appropriate leadership to maximize team effectiveness working seamlessly with our Quantity Surveyors, lab managers, and operational and leadership teams who all play an active part in sales, alongside the Company's Global Technical Leaders where necessary. The successful candidate will also have an opportunity to progress to a sales responsibility for the full breadth of the company's construction services and beyond, based on review and achievement of successful performance.

This role is based in Kaki Bukit, Singapore.

Job Duties:

  1. Establish and proactively maintain a strong professional relationship with key decision makers and influencers within assigned accounts.
  2. Drive profitable sales expansion with a focus on acquiring new and re-engaging with dormant accounts, while growing existing clients.
  3. Gather and analyze market and industry intelligence, metrics, and trends to determine customer needs.
  4. Identify opportunities early in the sales cycle to ensure maximum share of wallet for Element.
  5. Deliver business development related presentations, negotiate, and close business with nominated accounts, working in coordination with colleagues within the local business.
  6. Provide positive leadership and representation of the company to the public, customers, vendors, and to all employees through membership in professional organizations, serving on company project teams, conducting employee meetings and visiting work areas and interacting with employees. Represent company at industry association meetings to promote company and services offered.
  7. Prepare reports and presentations showing sales volume by sector, region, location, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion as required.
  8. Follow up in a timely manner on quotations for the assigned customer base.
  9. Achieve sales goals by converting, retaining and penetrating accounts.
  10. Work closely with other sales roles within sister-businesses and utilise technical support to maximize the sales realized in the territory.
  11. Lead access and persuasion steps in sales process, including qualifying, relationship building, needs evaluation, solution development/presentation and closing.
  12. Identify full customer test needs to uncover additional opportunities within accounts across the company.
  13. Actively utilize CRM to record activities, ensuring contact details are accurate, duplicates are removed, new information is added and accurate call/visit logs are entered.
  14. Actively participate in regular pipeline reviews, ensuring all CRM records are up to date and critical success factors are identified for key opportunities.
  15. Build and maintain a working knowledge of the company’s service offerings; participate in training/coaching opportunities.
  16. Ensure compliance with all the company policies including but not limited to Terms and Conditions, trade compliance, treatment of others, moral code of conduct, and employee handbook.
  17. Ensure adherence to all applicable laws pertaining to safety, environment and corporate governance.

Job Requirements:

  1. 10 years of commercial client facing experience with Technical and/or Sales responsibilities.
  2. Degree qualification in a directly related industry is preferred but not essential.
  3. Experience dealing with/working for Tier 1 construction contractors and/or consultants preferred.
  4. Knowledge of Geotechnical Engineering or Site investigation would be an advantage.
  5. Some experience in Quantity Surveying &/or Construction Project management a plus.
  6. Experience in interpreting testing procedures and requirements.
  7. Must have valid Driver’s License, with an acceptable driving record under the Company’s policy.
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Applications.
  9. Availability, flexibility, and maturity to represent the company at a broad range of events/projects in the community, with customers and within the company.
  10. Ability to remain calm when faced with mounting pressure related to deadlines and multiple priorities.
  11. Well-developed oral and written communication skills to meet a variety of communication needs. Good interpersonal skills that foster open upward and downward communication built on mutual respect.
  12. Ability to interface with clients, win new work and determine their requirements; helps develop proposals including cost estimates, work plan and terms and conditions.
  13. Ability to travel and work flexibly for extended periods of time; some overnight travel may be required.

Remuneration packages includes $8.5K to $12K basic salary + Transport allowance + Commission.
