Job description

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Business Development Lead to spearhead our entry into the bearings market in the Asia Pacific region (excluding China). This is a critical role responsible for driving business growth by identifying, developing, and maintaining relationships with potential and key customers, with a particular focus on steel mills and other related industry users of bearings. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in the bearings industry, a strong network of industry contacts, and a proven track record of achieving sales targets. Additionally, the candidate should possess essential technical knowledge of bearings, including keen appreciation of various application conditions and associated suitable specifications for each, to facilitate technical-based sales and customer support.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Market Development & Sales Growth:
    1. Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy to establish and grow our bearings business in the Asia Pacific region (excluding China).
    2. Identify and prioritize target markets, industries, and potential customers, with keen focus on steel mills and related sectors.
    3. Actively prospect new customers, and leverage own network of contacts to expeditiously develop new business opportunities.
    4. Develop marketing materials such as product brochures and customer presentations to facilitate own and sales teams penetration of new bearings customers.
    5. Work with communications team to create bearings-related content and leverage digital marketing strategies such as SEO, SEM, and SMM to enhance our online visibility and brand image in the bearings market.
    6. Ideate and execute creative commercial solutions to enable sales, including preparing sales contracts and other necessary supporting documents.
    7. Collaborate with various functional teams to prospect and realize sales opportunities.
    8. Achieve sales targets and contribute to the overall revenue growth of the company.
  2. Customer Relationship Management:
    1. Build and nurture strong relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders across the bearings supply chain, including customers' procurement teams and our selected supply partners.
    2. Serve as the primary point of contact for customers on bearings, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction and promptly attending to their technical and commercial needs.
    3. Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, competitive dynamics, and new business opportunities in the bearings market.
    4. Provide regular updates on market conditions, including pricing, customer preferences, and competitors' strategies.
  3. Technical & Product Expertise:
    1. Possess a working knowledge of bearings, including their types, specifications, and specification requirements across various industrial application conditions.
    2. Collaborate with internal technical teams to ensure customer needs are met with the appropriate bearings solutions.
    3. Educate customers on product applications and assist in resolving basic technical queries during the sales process.
    4. Keep abreast of product innovations and advancements in the bearings industry to offer value-driven solutions to customers.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  1. Experience:
    1. 5-10 years of experience in the bearings industry, with a proven track record in business development or sales.
    2. Strong exposure to industrial customers, especially steel mills, in the Asia Pacific region, and demonstrable network of contacts.
    3. Demonstrated success in entering new markets and achieving measurable business growth.
  2. Skills & Knowledge:
    1. Comprehensive understanding of bearings products, applications, suitable specifications across various industrial application conditions, and supply chain in the region. Knowledge beyond the region is a plus.
    2. Strong existing network of customers and distributors in the Asia Pacific region (excluding China), particularly within the steel industry. Networks beyond the region is a plus.
    3. Excellent negotiation, communication, sales and relationship-building skills.
    4. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a results-oriented mindset.
    5. Strong strategic thinking to be able to develop effective business development strategies and creative commercial solutions for long-term market development and sales success.
    6. Ability to work independently and proactively in a fast-paced and dynamic startup-like environment.
    7. Ability to collaborate well with various stakeholders to meet business goals.

Travel: Willingness to travel extensively across the Asia Pacific region as required to meet customers and attend industry events.
