Business Development Director APAC, Renewables

Due to company growth and continued expansion in the APAC region, we are looking for a Business Development Director for our Renewables Division.

Semco Maritime’s Renewable division has strongly expanded into the Asia Pacific region in recent years. The APAC region carries high strategic importance for Semco.

Firstly, because it represents a growth market in offshore wind (Taiwan, Korea, Australia, etc.). Semco Maritime has so far been at the forefront in this market, supporting the first Taiwanese projects. Typical projects include turn-key delivery of offshore substations and BOP service related projects.

Secondly, Semco has an important partnership with PTSC M&C in Vietnam. Through this partnership, Semco and PTSC have jointly delivered projects both for the APAC region and for European wind farms (and future also for the US).

For both these reasons, it is important for Semco to have a solid presence in APAC.

Typical tasks of the Business Development Director APAC:

• Identify and develop business opportunities for Semco’s Renewable division (EPC, Service projects, studies/FEED).
• Build relationships with APAC-based OWF developers.
• Maintain and manage relationships with our fabrication partner PTSC M&C in Vietnam; be their contact point on the commercial/market side. Work closely with Semco’s Project Portfolio Director, who oversees the execution of our projects in Vietnam (based in Ho Chi Minh).
• Establish and build relationships with possible future regional partners.
• Support in managing the relationship with our strategic regional supply chain partners.
• In general: be a senior representative of Semco Maritime in the APAC region.
• Work closely with the Tender and Sales teams in Semco’s Denmark offices to support successful tender processes. Often our clients have a footprint both in Europe and in APAC.
• Work closely with the Studies team and help secure order intake.
• Report on regional trends and developments and drive APAC strategy.

Requirements:

• 10+ years experience in the energy business. Experience in offshore wind is preferred.
• Experience with business development, stakeholder management, and sales processes.
• Familiarity with the APAC region and business is highly preferred.
• A technical background is preferred.
• Experience with EPC projects is preferred.
• A personality that operates efficiently both in a commercial and technical environment, and across different (business) cultures.
• High level of independence; you will be Semco’s eyes and ears in the region.

Location:

Due to the nature of the job, working location will be in the APAC region. Obvious locations would be Taipei, Singapore, or Ho Chi Minh. Regular intra-region travel is involved, as well as occasional travel to Europe.

Organisation:

The Business Development Director APAC is part of the BD & Sales Department in the Renewables division. The role reports to the VP BD & Sales.
