We are looking to hire a Business Development Associate to join our APAC Sales team, based in Singapore.

Role overview

You will be responsible for driving growth and generating new business opportunities in Southeast Asia, Australia/New Zealand, Hong Kong & Taiwan, with the support of the Head of New Business and the Marketing team. Working collaboratively with the Business Development Managers, you will be expected to find and qualify new potential leads, contacts, and opportunities for WGSN. This includes proactive outreach and converting inbound leads into meetings/opportunities for the BDM team.

This role gives you the opportunity to work with the world's most creative people while you develop the skills to develop your career in Business Development at WGSN, selling a market-leading product.

The team

You will be a key member of our New Business team with diverse backgrounds in Hong Kong, Southeast Asia and Australia. You will work closely with the BDM’s, Head of Business Development and the Marketing team to effectively sell the world's leading consumer insight and trend forecasting suite of products. Additionally, you’ll liaise with your fellow BDA’s globally to learn and grow professionally, while also having exposure to our other amazing teams across Account Management, Client Success and Content.

Key accountabilities

  • Find and qualify potential leads / contacts, and create new opportunities for the BDM team
  • Ongoing research and identification of potential clients for WGSN across geographies
  • Develop and execute strategies for outbound prospecting via various channels (email, phone, social media/LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Salesloft, events)
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, gaps, needs, and pain points of the WGSN target audience
  • Effectively manage our inbound lead queue, allocating leads to the BDMs and/or being the first point of contact for prospective clients to nurture toward opportunity
  • Generate demo meetings and discovery meetings to drive pipeline of potential new customers for WGSN
  • Create and maintain databases, lists, and reports on behalf of the New Business team in collaboration with Marketing & Sales Enablement
  • Work closely with the marketing team on lead generation and new business activities, including but not limited to events and email campaigns
  • Use lead generation tools to routinely extract contacts and a targeted list of prospects across all verticals and markets
  • Learn and maintain extensive knowledge of market/industry trends, developments, WGSN customers, competitors, and products; building expertise towards being able to tell the WGSN story while pitching WGSN value.

Skills, experience & qualifications required

  • Solid experience in a Sales/BDA role
  • Results-driven with proven sales function track record
  • Fluency in English is essential; plus at least one other language, such as Indonesian Bahasa, Thai, Mandarin, or Vietnamese, is a requirement
  • Excellent writing, communication, and listening skills
  • Knowledge of and/or experience within our core verticals (Fashion / Beauty / Interiors / Food and Drink / Consumer Tech) is well regarded
  • Previous experience with sales enablement tools such as SalesLoft, Salesforce would be an advantage
