Job description

Our client, a Fuel Management Services, is a leading marine fuel logistics provider that supplies and markets bunkers to all types of vessels. They are hiring a Technical Manager with OCO class 1.

Requirements:

  1. COC class 1 with 5 years of experience in a similar capacity; familiarity with ISM / ISPS is a must.
  2. Good leadership skills.
  3. Strong organizational and communication skills; hands-on experience is preferred.
  4. Independent and resourceful; able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  5. Analytical and highly proactive in technical troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  6. Ability to travel on short notice as required.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for the overall management of the technical aspects of our fleet, including overseeing daily operations of maintenance and repair, budgeting, survey schedules, onboard assessments of vessels, inspections, and docking.
  2. Lead technical Superintendents during emergencies or critical situations, providing guidance on appropriate responses and ensuring effective communication and coordination among the team.
  3. Ensure assigned vessels are technically operational or managed according to the company’s requirements.
  4. Involve technical Superintendents in strategic discussions to leverage insights on technical operations, fleet performance, and future challenges, fostering a sense of ownership and accountability within the technical department.
  5. Ensure Technical Superintendents provide and compile documented reports upon completion of dry docking, including summaries of works performed, operational budgets, and actual expenditures within 30 days after docking.
  6. Identify and source technical and operational supplies required for the vessels, ensuring the rates are economical.
  7. Evaluate dry-docking, repair quotes, and selection of shipyards for repair works and ship maintenance.
  8. Perform monthly reviews of logs processes and ensure the technical team adheres to schedules for vessel inspections.
  9. Monitor the technical status of vessels in relation to class certification and surveys.
  10. Supervise contractors’ repair and maintenance of vessels.
  11. Perform budgeting and cost control measures on ship spares and docking requirements.
  12. Conduct technical compliance audits and investigations on defects/failures on a regularly scheduled basis to ensure conformance.
  13. Lead initiatives to enhance safety practices within teams, ensuring technical superintendents prioritize safety in their operations and communicate its importance to the crew.
  14. Work closely with the HSE Management team to ensure smooth and successful implementation of QHSE systems and policies for the Division.
  15. Perform systematic reviews of recommended codes, guidelines, and standards to ensure compliance with Quality & Safety Management standards.
  16. Maintain vessels’ zero loss time accident record and report all vessel incidents and Near Misses to prevent and eliminate potential incidents.
  17. Undertake any other technical-related assignments as required.
