Job description

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Customer Service: Greet customers warmly and assist with their orders.
    Provide product recommendations and answer any customer questions regarding the bakery's offerings.
    Handle customer inquiries, concerns, or complaints in a professional and courteous manner.
  2. Product Display and Merchandising: Ensure that the bakery’s products (cakes, pastries, bread, etc.) are properly displayed and well-stocked.
    Rotate stock to maintain freshness and help with the inventory.
  3. Cash Register and Point of Sale (POS) Operation: Handle cash, credit, and debit transactions accurately.
    Process orders and manage the cash register or POS system.
    Provide receipts and process returns or exchanges when necessary.
  4. Cleaning and Organization: Maintain the cleanliness of the front area, including counters, displays, and seating areas.
    Ensure the bakery is tidy and organized to meet health and safety standards.
  5. Assist with Bakery Preparation: Help prepare ingredients for baked goods when needed (e.g., measuring, mixing).
    Assist bakers or kitchen staff with basic prep work.
  6. Packaging and Labeling: Package products neatly and ensure labels (such as ingredients, allergen information) are accurate.
    Label cakes or special orders as requested by customers.
  7. Support Bakery Promotions: Inform customers about any special promotions, offers, or new products.
    Help with promotional activities or events.
  8. Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members to ensure smooth daily operations.
    Assist in training new staff when needed.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Customer Service Skills: Friendly and approachable, with the ability to make customers feel welcome.
  • Communication Skills: Able to communicate effectively with customers and team members.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensuring products are correctly labeled, stocked, and displayed.
  • Cash Handling: Ability to operate a cash register or POS system with accuracy.
  • Team Player: Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Physical Stamina: May be required to stand for long periods and assist with carrying or organizing bakery goods.
  • Basic Food Safety Knowledge: Understanding hygiene and cleanliness in a food setting is important.

Possible Work Environment:

  • Bakery front crew assistants work in bakery shops, cafes, or restaurants with a bakery section.
  • Work hours may include mornings, weekends, and holidays, depending on the bakery’s hours.
