Backend Engineer - PHP (Training Provided)

We are seeking a Backend Engineer for an exciting role on a very special program (Upskill Today). You will be enlisted for 6 - 8 weeks learning during which you will learn concepts like Design Thinking, Effective Communication, new technology stacks used in the project, and a full-fledged technical training program on the project scope and industry.The training needs to be undertaken full-time but on a work from home (WFH) basis. Following the completion of the training and a test, you will be deployed to our software development project.

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Backend Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of high-performance server-side logic and system integration. The ideal candidate will focus on designing, building, and maintaining efficient, reusable, and reliable backend solutions. PHP experience is essential, and Python knowledge is a plus but not required. You will collaborate closely with frontend developers and other stakeholders to ensure the backend systems support business and user needs.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and optimize server-side applications primarily in PHP.
• Design, implement, and manage API services to support frontend applications and integrate with third-party services.
• Collaborate with frontend developers and other team members to ensure seamless integration of the backend with user interfaces.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices in software development and design patterns.
• Identify and troubleshoot performance issues, optimize application performance, and ensure high availability and scalability.
• Implement data storage solutions and manage database interactions, ensuring data integrity and security.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure quality and functionality.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes, tools, and methodologies.
  
  

Requirements

• Proven experience in backend development, with a strong focus on PHP.
• Experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and designing database schemas.
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Understanding of RESTful API design and integration.
• Knowledge of server-side security and data protection techniques.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Familiarity with Python is an added advantage but not required.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
