Location: Singapore, SG

Job Type: Permanent

GIC is one of the world’s largest sovereign wealth funds. With over 2,000 employees across 11 locations around the world, we invest in more than 40 countries globally across asset classes and businesses. Working at GIC gives you exposure to an extraordinary network of the world’s industry leaders. As a leading global long-term investor, we work at the Point of Impact for Singapore’s financial future, and the communities we invest in worldwide.

The Portfolio Execution Group (PEG) encompasses multiple teams that perform a range of functional roles including trade execution, funding & liquidity management, securities financing, and applied quantitative research. This group comprises four sub-teams – Global Trading Unit (GTU), Balance Sheet Management Group (BMG), Applied Research Unit (ARU), and Business Strategy & Management (BSM).

The Counterparty Relationship Management (CPRM) team manages GIC's relationships with its key banking counterparties (CP). The objective is to create bi-lateral accountability and mindshare with our most important partners, to maximize the value GIC receives from the street (across all asset classes; public and private) and to ensure continuous access to liquidity and balance sheet.

What impact can you make in this role?

As we continuously refine and evolve the function to deliver value to GIC, we are looking for one more colleague to join the CPRM team in Singapore. You will work closely with PEG's and GIC's leadership team to further enhance and refine GIC’s total wallet and strategic relationship management framework across all trading, banking, and balance sheet activities, actively manage the relationships with our CPs, coordinate/conduct periodic performance reviews, and run data analytics to drive actionable insights.

What will you do as an AVP/VP, Counterparty Relationship Management?

  • Relationship Management
    • Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key CPs globally.
    • Work closely with all investment teams in GIC and support them in their engagement with the street and ensure the Total Portfolio's ability to implement its investment ideas without interruption (i.e., ensure continuous access to liquidity and balance sheet).
    • Organize engagements, track developments, identify opportunities, and provide regular updates/thought-leadership to GIC management.
    • Plan, prepare and run regular CP performance reviews.
  • Business Development
    • Develop and implement strategic plans to grow CPRM's value-add to GIC.
    • Drive the continuous enhancement of GIC's wallet framework.
    • Stay updated on GIC's activities as well as market/regulatory developments affecting GIC’s counterparties and GIC.
  • Strategy and Analytics
    • Develop a senior management MIS, drive analytics, and generate meaningful insights to support the continuous enhancement of the function.
    • Drive independent workstreams in the context of broader team projects (as part of PEG’s strategic initiatives).
    • Synthesize clear takeaways from complex information into clear insights and recommendations using both qualitative and quantitative methods.

What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field (MBA or CFA designation is preferred).
  • At least 4-6 years of experience in either relationship management within the financial institutions sector and/or corporate strategy/top-tier strategy consulting.
  • Good understanding of financial products, markets, and instruments. Global perspective and understanding of global economic trends.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial data.
  • Strong data capabilities (ideally with some coding experience; at a minimum Tableau/Excel).
  • Cultural sensitivity and the ability to manage international client relationships.
  • Adaptability and resilience to handle high-pressure situations and recover from setbacks.
