Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the Head of Group Tax to manage the tax risk of the Group on a global basis. This includes progressively rolling out the Group’s Tax Risk and Governance Framework from HQ to overseas subsidiaries, assessing their tax risk profile, identifying, mitigating and rectifying tax risk.
- Responsible for developing processes and framework to comply with changes in tax/regulatory requirements such as country by country reporting and BEPS 2.0 compliance requirements.
- Review tax processes and implementation of automation solutions, where appropriate, to capture appropriate data for tax reporting.
- Analysis of Budget announcement and providing a summary and changes and impact analysis for
dissemination to senior management and various affected business units. - Business Partnering: Tax advisory, planning and structuring, transfer pricing analysis and documentation, provide internal training, tax planning and structuring for M&A projects, identifying opportunities for optimization, etc. Managing the tax issues on transactions including key finance and commercial initiatives, funding and repatriation, structuring and simplification.
- Compliance: ensure compliance for all direct and indirect taxes (GST/VAT, duties, WHT, etc), including the implementation of daily transaction checks and analysis within the current Tax Risk & Governance Framework. Review corporate tax, GST and withholding tax calculations and ensure
timely tax filings for the entities within the Group. - Proactively prepare and document advice on tax filing positions, audits and rulings. Partner with the entities in the Group to ensure compliance with the company’s tax policies and business models, and liaising with external tax consultants, where necessary.
- Manage tax audits and investigations of entities within the Group.
- Any other ad-hoc duties as assigned.
Key Requirements
- Degree in Accounting related academics, with a major in taxation. Accredited Tax Advisor (Income Tax);
- Minimum 12 years of relevant working experience in the Big 4, OR in both Big 4 and a global corporate organization;
- Excellent understanding of the key principles and practices of direct and indirect taxes across the Asia Pacific region;
- Excellent understanding of international tax principles including inbound and outbound structuring issues, funding and repatriation strategies and transfer pricing considerations;
- Excellent understanding of tax reporting and experience in managing tax audits and investigations;
- Ability to manage multiple projects and excel under pressure and tight timelines;
- Self-starter, pro-active sole contributor and strong team player with the ability to lead and coach regional/global finance accountants/teams;
- Able to influence, engage and build strong relationships & trust at all levels;
- Excellent judgment, people and communication skills.
