How you succeed

To succeed in this role, you'll need to be a strategic thinker with a strong analytical mindset. You'll analyze current IT processes and workflows to identify areas for automation and improvement, design and develop automation scripts and tools, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate automation solutions into existing systems and workflows. You'll also need to stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies related to IT automation, and drive improvements using SRE practices and automation.

What you do

  • Analyze current IT processes and workflows to identify areas for automation and improvement
  • Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams to integrate automation solutions into existing systems and workflows
  • Monitor and maintain automated processes, ensuring they run smoothly and efficiently
  • Maintain security and compliance standards for the environment under management
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to automation tools and scripts
  • Document automation processes, workflows, and best practices for future reference
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies related to IT automation
  • Provide training and support to team members on automation tools and practices
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance IT service delivery

Qualifications

Who you are

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Proven experience as an IT Automation Engineer or similar role
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, systems, and processes
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell)
  • Experience with automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Jenkins)
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform or CloudFormation)
  • Familiarity with cloud and virtualization platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, VMware, KVM) and their automation services
  • Experience with web development and ability to write and integrate APIs
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
  • Relevant certifications will be an added advantage
