BlackRock's Transition Management team helps institutional clients restructure their investment portfolios, acting as a bridge between their existing and desired allocations. A transition can be anything from a manager change to a full-scale plan merger. We deliver a modern approach to project management, portfolio risk management and trade execution to help clients reduce costs and minimize risk during periods of significant portfolio turnover. We deliver the best of BlackRock's expertise in risk management, trading and technology directly to clients.

Our team runs more than 200 transitions a year from offices in London, New York, San Francisco, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Singapore with a focus on large multi-asset portfolio restructures. We have over 50 transition professionals globally and offer one of the industry's most comprehensive transition management platforms. Our clients include central banks, sovereign wealth funds, public pension plans, corporate retirement plans and other institutional investors.

Role and Responsibilities:

Overview: We are seeking a skilled Transition Strategist to join our APAC Transition Management Team. As a Transition Strategist, you will play a key role in implementing client transitions, sharing responsibilities with the Transition Portfolio Manager. This role requires a strategic, hands-on approach to business development, project structuring, and the seamless delivery of client transition projects. You will be accountable for ensuring a high standard of client care, from planning through execution, with a direct line of responsibility to the client.

Client Strategy

1. Lead client engagement efforts to generate new and repeat business through proactive relationship management.
2. Develop and deepen client relationships, establishing strategic engagement plans that align with commercial objectives.
3. Manage and own client pitches, tracking opportunities and ensuring all stakeholders remain informed.
4. Represent BlackRock in client meetings and pitches, delivering presentations and engaging in consultative and educational discussions.
5. Collaborate across BlackRock's client-facing teams to ensure a cohesive and solutions-oriented client experience.
6. Respond to RFPs and other client inquiries, promoting our transition capabilities and strategic initiatives.
7. Stay current with advanced trading mechanisms, risk management tools, delta one instruments, and liquidity options to continuously enhance our offerings.
8. In collaboration with the transition portfolio manager, provide analytical and qualitative input into trade strategy design.

Project Management

1. Plan, coordinate, and oversee all aspects of transition projects.
2. Engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficient project delivery.
3. Identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks and costs throughout the transition process.
4. Build and monitor operating plans, ensuring detailed oversight of exposure, execution, and operations.
5. Foster strong relationships with all parties involved, maintaining transparent communication throughout each transition project.
6. Regularly update clients on market conditions and project progress.

Skills and Qualifications:

1. Experience: 4+ years in capital markets, with a background in portfolio management, trading, transition management, and/or related fields.
2. Expertise: Strong understanding of capital markets, financial instruments, portfolio hedging and optimization, index/beta replication, and multi-asset strategies.
3. Analytical Skills: Knowledge of transaction costs, portfolio risk analytics, and trade strategy design.
4. Client-Focused: Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a record of collaborative teamwork and a mentorship mindset.
5. Adaptability: Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
6. Communication: Excellent communication skills, adept at tailoring complex information for diverse audiences.
7. Project Management: Demonstrated capability in leading and executing large projects effectively.
8. Technical Proficiency: Advanced Excel skills, with a strong affinity for technology and process innovation.
9. Preferred: Proficiency in Asian languages is a plus.
10. High energy, with a curious, problem-solving mindset.
11. Attention to detail and a strategic, entrepreneurial approach to workflow optimization.
