Associate/Senior Associate, Community Stewardship (11209)

About the team and role

Temasek's Community Stewardship department is responsible for driving societal impact, catalysing philanthropy and championing best practices in the social sector. The team's role includes:

  • Enabling impactful giving, via gifts informed by market needs, innovative models of philanthropy, and thoughtful measurement of impact outcomes to drive decision making and communication.
  • Expanding our network, forging collaboration with fellow donors, international organisations, Temasek portfolio companies and non-profits that can amplify impact and enable social good.
  • Growing a thriving non-profit ecosystem, which involves putting in place an effective partnership model with Temasek's non-profit ecosystem and supporting their growth.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join us as an Associate or Senior Associate, contributing to impactful initiatives to advance our community objectives of Connecting People, Uplifting Communities, Protecting the Planet and Advancing Capabilities.

As an Associate or Senior Associate, he/she will be a key member of the team responsible for the design, implementation and management of community programmes, with a focus on maximising social and environmental outcomes. He/She will work closely with internal teams as well as partners, including Temasek Trust, Temasek Foundation and social sector players.

This position is based in Temasek's Singapore head office, and reports to the Director of Community Stewardship (Strategy).

Key Responsibilities

He/she will support the team in:
  • Catalytic Philanthropy
    • Assessing opportunities for catalytic philanthropic capital to drive innovative solutions to address social and environmental challenges.
    • Structuring the deployment of concessional capital that can unlock additional funding or scale impactful initiatives.
  • Impact Measurement & Management
    • Supporting the implementation of the social impact measurement and management (IMM) framework to evaluate the impact of community programmes.
    • Collecting and analysing data to assess programme outcomes, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
    • Preparing impact reports to communicate the outcomes to stakeholders.
  • Programme Development & Management
    • Assisting in the design, implementation, and evaluation of community programmes aligned with Temasek's stewardship priorities.
    • Managing day-to-day operations of ongoing initiatives, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to objectives.
  • Research & Analysis
    • Conducting research and analysis on social trends, emerging issues, and best practices in community development, corporate social responsibility, and catalytic philanthropy.
It is important that the candidate be comfortable with matrix structures and multiple stakeholder management.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Social Sciences, Public Policy and International Development or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in community development, corporate social responsibility, sustainability, philanthropic capital deployment, impact management or related fields.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with social impact measurement and management frameworks and familiarity with related frameworks is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using data analysis tools to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Understanding of financial principles to assess innovative funding models.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of the social impact and philanthropic landscape in Singapore and the broader Southeast Asian region is preferred.
