All programmes are designed and developed in consultation with the industry to ensure relevance and currency.
About the Role
To augment our manpower resources in the School, we are looking for a suitably qualified candidate to join our Lifelong Education & Training (LET) as Lead Learning Designer. Reporting to Assistant Dean (LET), the incumbent shall strategise, conceptualise, plan, and implement high-quality technology-enhanced learning solutions for Continuing Education & Training (CET) and Lifelong Learning courses.
This role is offered on a 3-year renewable contract basis in the first instance, with the prospect of a regular open employment contract thereafter subject to satisfactory job performance during the first 3 years. Remuneration is based on a 12-month salary structure, with annual variable bonus subject to the incumbent’s performance and the University/School’s prevailing remuneration policies. The incumbent will be emplaced at an appropriate appointment grade based on his/her individual merits.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the design and development of a portfolio of face-to-face (f2f), online and blended curricula for a growing suite of rigorous programs offered across a variety of disciplines and audiences at the University.
- Collaborate closely with Academic Directors and senior leadership at the school in new program development, curricular renovation, faculty development and the design of f2f, hybrid, and online courses.
- Identify the pedagogical best practices and supporting high-quality technology-enhanced learning (TEL) solutions needed to effectively execute curricular mission, and work with faculty to articulate the goals, learning outcomes, assessments, activity paths, learning objects and content for each new course.
- Conduct needs analysis with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to design appropriate curriculum and course materials for effective TEL solutions.
- Manage instructional design project teams comprising Instructional Designers and Interactive Media Designers for development of high-quality TEL implementations.
- Monitor, identify, and assess contemporary trends in instructional design to support continuous improvement in TEL solutions.
- Conceptualise, plan, and develop capabilities through training or activities to help faculty design high-quality technology-enhanced instructional and learning content for adult learners, including but not limited to Blended Learning, Micro-Learning/Mobile Learning, Online Learning.
- Collaborate with all stakeholders across the University to ensure alignment and adherence to best practices.
Requirements
Academic & Professional Certification
- A good bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Education/Training, Science & Technology, Psychology or related qualifications.
- Diploma in Adult Continuation Education (DACE)/Diploma in Design and Development of Learning for Performance (DDDLP) or equivalent or higher qualification by an accredited training institution or from an Institute of Higher Learning such as NIE.
- Proficiencies in UI/UX design and online learning authoring tools, such as Articulate, are added advantages.
Experience & Attributes:
- At least 5 years of related working experience in curriculum design, instructional design, content development and training practices.
- Demonstrated knowledge of instructional design and educational technology best practice in the context of higher education online and/or blended programming.
- Demonstrated experience developing online and/or blended programming that creatively leverages new technologies. Experience in all phases of the instructional design processes.
- Experience in usability and functionality testing methods, as well as course and learner evaluation methodologies.
- Strong project management skills and ability to organise and manage multiple priorities and/or projects.
- Ability to mentor and guide junior instructional designers.
- Proven leadership skills to inspire, galvanise and engage staff members at all levels and with external stakeholders, functioning effectively in a complex, uncertain and ambiguous environment.
- Strong team player, able to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
- Driven self-starter with strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Resilient, resourceful with good problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, and thrives in a fast-paced, results-oriented and ambiguous work environment.
