Job Description

The candidate will be responsible for leading a team for project delivery and application support related to the Finance business domain. He/she will need to work closely with the user community, external vendors, and other stakeholders to achieve this. The Candidate’s responsibilities are as follows:


  1. Lead the IT team in supporting and managing IT solutions for the Office of Finance (OFN) business unit, such as SAP S/4HANA Finance system which covers FI, CO, TM, MM modules.
  2. Oversee and manage team resources (inclusive of vendor and augment staff) to cope with work demands while ensuring the right resource is assigned to the right tasks.
  3. Understand the business domain, review user requirements, vendor proposals, assess/discuss technical solutions, and ensure that selected solutions comply with architecture, scalability, security requirements, and compliances. Provide support on technical matters during implementation to ensure timely rollout of the project(s).
  4. Act as Solution Architect for OFN systems, ensuring that implemented solutions are secure, interoperable, and extensible.

Duties and Responsibilities

Stakeholder Management

  1. Manage and work with stakeholders to plan and execute Finance projects.
  2. Ensure strategies are aligned with business objectives at the University level.

Solution Design (IT)
  1. Work with network, systems, and security teams to develop and formalize the NUS IT architecture.
  2. Own and refine the architecture according to new developments and demands.

Programme / Project Management
  1. Account for the successful delivery of programmes/projects.
  2. Manage delivery of programmes/projects to ensure targets are met, including conducting user requirement analysis, participating in solution design, planning and executing testing, and deploying solutions to ‘live’.
  3. Create and/or review project artefacts and deliverables to ensure quality and adherence to NUS guidelines and policies.
  4. Manage procurement, including preparation and publishing tender specifications, evaluating and recommending potential solutions and/or vendors, and contract management.
  5. Liaise closely with business users and build good rapport.
  6. Liaise closely with vendors to ensure successful delivery of products and/or services in accordance with the contract.
  7. Manage project team to optimize manpower resources while maintaining healthy team morale.

Maintenance and Support
  1. Account for the overall successful provision of ongoing application maintenance and support to ensure SLAs are met.
  2. Oversee and/or provide maintenance and support of applications, including delivery of enhancements and bug fixes, managing service requests, and troubleshooting problems.
  3. Create, update, and/or review systems artefacts and deliverables to ensure quality and adherence to NUS guidelines and policies.
  4. Perform systems and data analysis, including revising logic and procedures as necessary.
  5. Handle audit queries and ensure audit and security compliance are met.
  6. Liaise closely with business users and build good rapport.
  7. Work closely with business users in annual IT project planning and enhancement prioritization.
  8. Liaise closely with vendors to ensure successful provision of support and maintenance in accordance with the contract.

Qualifications

  1. Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent.
  2. At least 15 years in the IT industry, including 7 years in a technical role, and 7+ years’ experience in project management.
  3. At least 10 years in managing an IT team providing support and/or vendor management.
  4. In-depth knowledge of SAP S/4HANA modules FI/CO/PS/FM/GM/Cash Management/Treasury/MM/SD.
  5. Knowledge of OpenText Vendor Invoice Management is an added advantage.
  6. At least 3 years in planning, project managing, and executing S/4HANA system upgrades.
  7. Good technical knowledge in SAP ABAP and Fiori would be an advantage.
  8. Familiarity with Finance business domains.
  9. Strong technical background to coordinate with technical teams to solve complex requirements and integration issues.
  10. Good grasp of IT technologies, methodologies, architectures, and best practices.
  11. Strong business process and analytical skills with the ability to assimilate information quickly and communicate complex requirements and issues clearly and concisely.
  12. Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management, users, and vendors.
  13. Must be a self-starter and able to work independently with minimum supervision.
  14. Must be a good team player, proactive, a fast learner, highly organized, and have a positive attitude.
  15. Certification in PMP or CITPM is an added advantage.
  16. Experience in the Higher Education industry is a bonus.
