About the Role
Join us as Associate Director, Governance at AIA Investment Management!
This position is a dedicated SME to support the Director of Investment Governance in Singapore to:
- Drive the governance efforts for AIA Investment Management Private Limited ("Group AMC"), collective investment schemes by Group AMC ("CISs") and oversight of the other AIA AMCs located in Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines (collectively, the "In-scope Entities").
- Work closely with Group Investment Governance team on the design, administration, communication and continuous improvement and efficiency of the AIA Investment Governance Framework ("IGF"), being the formal articulation as to the governance relationship among Group Investment, AIA's AMCs, CISs and special purpose vehicles ("SPVs") and as among the Three Lines of Defense related to AIA's investment activities.
This position will also support Group AMC and CIS to embed the IGF standards within these entities, and translate them into local policies and procedures.
This role requires solid understanding of asset ownership and asset management, the legal construct and structure of AIA, AMCs, CISs, SPVs and insurance companies working in multiple jurisdictions and proficiency in related regulatory and compliance requirements.
This position is responsible for:
- Building trust and relationships to ensure a strong governance culture and demonstrable accountability within the In-Scope Entities.
- Managing the IGF implementation for the Group AMC and CISs and providing assistance to other AMCs and CISs in their respective implementation of the same.
- Facilitating individual accountability of Investment Policy Functional Owners and Referees in case of queries and disputes.
- Acting as an advocate for the Investment Governance Framework with respect to Risk, Compliance and Internal Audit functions in support of monitoring, assurance and audit within the 3LOD approach to risk management.
- Supporting Group AMC First Line of Defense in the consolidation and execution of non-financial risk activities (coordination, collation, data quality), providing guidance/training and acting as a conduit for general first line controls/governance matters.
- Supporting management committee governance for Group AMC.
- Analysing regulatory direction and risk trends for In-scope Entities on a forward-looking basis.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years in risk, investment governance or investment compliance and/or related legal functions as applied to asset management and asset ownership.
- Strong understanding and experience handling governance frameworks and oversight functions in a multi-jurisdiction and multi-operations for a large financial services organization.
- Excellent presentation and strong influencing skills.
- Ability to work and balance multiple and changing priorities.
- High level understanding of operating conditions and regulations in Singapore and relevant jurisdictions for the In Scope Entities preferred.
- Independent, strong self-initiative and willing to challenge status quo.
- Chartered Financial Analyst, Chartered Public Accountant or similar qualifications would be viewed favorably.
