Job Title: Associate Director Communications
Location: Singapore

About the role:

The Associate Director of Communications supports the Head of Communications for Growth & Emerging Markets as the primary communication support for the assigned region and, for specific projects, provides executive support for the Business Unit head. The role will support the creation and implementation of all region-wide communication strategies and materials for the relevant regional commercial executive, as well as provide leadership and support to the region’s CC professionals and selected stakeholders to promote and defend Takeda’s reputation.

The role is primarily responsible for supporting the creation and implementation of regional communication strategies and materials including executive leadership communication, internal communication platform, external media participation, product communication, regional meeting planning, and event management. It is also responsible for maintaining the strategic link between business needs and communication activities in the Emerging Markets.

How you will contribute:

  • Supporting the implementation of the cross-regional communication strategy and associated message platform, planning for all internal and external audiences
  • Contributing to the alignment of the regional commercial communication strategy with Takeda’s corporate strategies, business objectives, mission, and vision by ensuring effective communication among corporate communication teams
  • On selected projects, serving as communication strategist and counselor to the regional commercial leader; providing cross-regional executive guidance in collaboration with area and in-country communications professionals and other stakeholders
  • Contributing to the development of global communication strategies, priorities, and plans ensuring that communication priorities of the region are integrated and adequately prioritized
  • Ensuring that communication activities conform to corporate vision, mission, values, and business strategy
  • Facilitating communication alignment within assigned Business Units and across the Business Units as well as functions, including material approval management
  • Coordinating communication plans to ensure the effective and efficient creation and implementation of internal and public relations activities
  • Managing positioning and participation of the Business Unit head in selected public relations and communication programs for confidential business initiatives, product launches, business development, partnership communications, crisis communication, and corporate sponsorships
  • Monitoring the regional communication environment and preparing for issues and crisis communication
  • Creating and aligning regional input for selected corporate internal and external communications materials – for example, external media information, employee and external meeting content and message points, memos, internal magazine, organization announcements, and corporate branding
  • Supporting the Business Unit head in selected internal and external communication activities by creating associated materials including speaking events, external board participation, and media interviews
  • Actively participating in the construction of the Emerging Markets Communications platform and collaborating with area/country communicators and other stakeholders to ensure appropriate messaging, contribution to global projects, and alignment of local branding
  • Monitoring company activities and industry issues and recommending appropriate communication
  • Managing relevant vendor relationships and associated regional budget
  • Initiating and supporting continuous learning on communication systems and tools appropriate to the context of the Region

What you bring to Takeda:

  • University degree in Communications/Journalism/Administration or equivalent
  • 8+ years of experience in communication positions
  • PR agency experience preferred
  • Good knowledge of all aspects of communications including executive positioning, internal communication, media relations, product communication, investor relations, crisis communication, or project management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required as well as strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience in creation of communication plans, strategic and long-term plans
  • Experience with senior executives, different cultures, and business requirements
  • Strategic planning and results-oriented execution needed
  • Ability to negotiate and form consensus among various parties important
  • Pragmatic but with attention to details, result-oriented, motivated, reliable, and trustworthy
  • Ability to deliver in high-pressure situations and with short deadlines
  • Strong ethics and integrity
  • Flexibility needed for working within different time zones
  • Pharmaceutical business experience preferred, European/Emerging Markets knowledge an advantage
  • Position includes traveling
