The Associate Director will be responsible for leading and delivering strategic initiatives to drive portfolio, pricing, and investment choices while supporting primary and secondary market research for the Surgery business. The position will work closely with regional cross-functional team members to drive these initiatives with the markets. The role will require a high degree of business acumen and understanding; must be able to proactively recommend tools and techniques to support primary market research, secondary market sources, and marketplace understanding needs across the business. With oversight, the position will have responsibility for executing strategic and tactical marketplace insight projects and activities, including managing external resources. The person will have 1-2 analysts as well as agencies (as relevant) supporting their deliverables.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of corporate strategy initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive strategic planning, market analysis, and business development efforts for the region.
  • Enhance commercial strategies by optimizing CRM systems & data-driven insights use for managing customer relationships, sales, pricing, and forecasts while monitoring market trends and competition.
  • Develop and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of commercial initiatives and report results to senior management.
  • Analyze commercial performance metrics, derive insights, and implement initiatives to improve sales productivity and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and operations, to ensure alignment and integration of commercial strategies.
  • Identify best practices in the healthcare sector to optimize customer engagement and drive revenue and profit growth.
  • Deliver market and competitor intelligence leveraging different methodologies (primary, secondary research) to deliver insights and analytics for the APAC Surgery BU regionally.

Qualifications:

  • BS or BA Degree required. A master’s degree in healthcare administration, business, data analytics, or a related field; an MBA or equivalent strongly preferred.
  • Extensive experience (8+ years) in commercial excellence, strategic analysis, healthcare consulting, or operational leadership with a focus on healthcare services.
  • Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and communicate actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and analytical tools (Qlik Sense, Tableau, or PowerBI) required.

  • Influence/Communication: Ability to influence senior stakeholders and productively work through conflict; strong, fact-based influencing; negotiation and conflict management skills; and strong verbal skills with clear, concise written communications.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills: Ability to disaggregate a problem into components and root causes; hypothesis-driven and able to drive 80/20 analysis with imperfect data; sound judgment and strong pattern recognition; solutions-oriented with a bias towards action.
