The Assistant Teacher will assist the Child Care Teacher and the Principal in the execution of professional duties and responsibilities.
Working alongside the Child Care Teacher, provide appropriate learning experiences for children within an inquiry, play-based context.
Assist the Child Care Teacher in documenting the children’s learning through contributions via newsletters, portfolios, etc.
Create a warm and nurturing environment for children.
Build and maintain close partnerships with parents.
Regularly update and maintain the library's inventory, ensuring all records are accurate and any lost or damaged items are tracked and addressed.
Select and purchase new books to enhance the library’s collection, ensuring it meets the diverse needs and interests of students.
Create a welcoming and engaging library space that encourages reading and exploration.
Oversee the book loan system, ensuring that students can borrow and return books easily. Provide guidance on how to use the system and track overdue books, offering reminders as necessary.
Oversee the smooth transition of children from the classroom setting into after-school care, maintaining clear communication with class teachers regarding any specific instructions or needs for individual children.
Plan and organise age-appropriate activities and experiences for children in shared spaces. Communicate these plans with the teachers on duty to ensure smooth execution.
Supervise and support other teachers on duty, ensuring they carry out their responsibilities effectively, and ensure that all children receive the appropriate care and attention.
Ensure that children are only handed over to authorised individuals at the time of dismissal, verifying the identity of pick-up persons as necessary.
Qualifications
Minimum qualification of Diploma in Early Childhood.
Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.
