Envisioning to create a smart, sustainable and resilient campus, NUS sustainability framework encompasses environmental strategies of Design, Decarbonise, Defend, Dematerialise and Dialogue under the Campus Sustainability Roadmap 2030. This Energy Manager position supports the University’s scope 2 emissions Decarbonisation programme by implementing energy optimisation and reduction projects targeting key building types such as laboratories, offices and teaching facilities as well as hostels.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Assess the campus Building Management Systems (BMS) to highlight defects, errors, and inefficiencies related to energy management.
- Draft and implement an iterative BMS user guide, specific to different BMS systems, buildings or use cases, as required, and conduct training for building managers on the use of BMS for their specific needs.
- Propose upgrades to the existing system and highlight errors in metering data, erroneous data, and offline meters while working alongside BMS vendors and other key stakeholders.
- Analyse and generate trend charts on energy usage for buildings from the BMS and through site walks to verify correct electrical linkages, where necessary.
- Support sustainability initiatives on campus related to smart metering, smart buildings, and energy management systems.
- Support the project management team on new building design reviews and existing building upgrades on automated monitoring systems for water, air-conditioning, energy, and carbon.
- Conduct Level 1 energy audits through building walkthroughs to assess areas for energy savings and sustainable practices.
- Lead and manage projects that require deeper energy analysis such as Level 3 energy audits, pilots on alternative building technology for Air Con and Mechanical Ventilation (ACMV) and lighting systems.
- Promote energy conservation philosophy and practices within the NUS/UCI family.
Qualifications
- Degree in relevant engineering (electrical, mechanical, power, automation, or facility management).
- At least 5-7 years of working experience in the energy, power, or building automation field.
- Relevant certifications in energy such as Singapore Certified Energy Manager (SCEM), Green Mark Accredited Professional (GMAP) will be preferred, including past work experience with energy management in the built environment.
- Familiarity with Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), ACMV and lighting drawings.
- Familiarity with ACMV systems, humidity controls, lighting management systems, and metering systems.
- Good analytical skills, ability to strategise, analyse and synthesize diverse energy and built environment quantitative data and information.
- Excellent writing and communication skills with the ability to engage and interact effectively with all stakeholders within and outside the organisation.
