Assistant Sales Manager
Job description
Roles & Responsibilities:
Achieve Target Sales and Beyond
- Devise and execute strategic sales and marketing plans to meet sales targets.
- Analyse sales revenue to assess the profitability of existing and new products.
- Jointly set performance goals with sales staff – Key Results Areas (KRA), Key Tasks (KT) and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for the next year.
- Utilise an efficient reporting system for accurate tracking of business opportunities.
- Generate leads and foster new business opportunities to support the sales team.
- Monitor market dynamics including sales volume, product mix, and pricing to stay abreast of changing trends and competitors.
Lead Team to High Performance
- Inspire and energise the sales team to perform to their level best.
- Review each team member’s sales performance report submitted weekly/monthly to analyse trends and performance.
- Coach and guide individual sales staff in achieving their key performance indicators.
- Collaborate with the sales team to co-create solutions and overcome challenges.
- Work with team to innovate strategies for competitive advantage in meeting monthly sales targets.
- Conduct year-end performance review and provide ongoing feedback to the sales team.
- Build a high performing team aligned with the company's vision, mission and core values.
- Plan and support HR with appropriate sales and marketing training to improve sales staff competence
Provide Excellent Customer Service
- Deal with dissatisfied customers and resolve customer complaints promptly.
- Service and retain high profile clients by maintaining steady long-term relationships with them.
- Monitor customer preferences to determine the focus of sales efforts and service level.
- Manage sales administrative processes efficiently to provide timely and high-quality services to satisfy customers’ needs.
Key Result Areas: Working with Management Team
- Prepare and present periodic sales reports to the General Manager/Managing Director.
- Provide performance feedback and contribute to sales and marketing strategy development.
- Drive debt collection efforts in collaboration with colleagues from Finance.
- Coordinate with Finance and other departments to resolve issues and improve processes.
- Undertake additional duties as directed by the management.
Requirements:
- Preferably a Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Sales and Marketing, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of proven experience in sales in the engineering or technical industry
- At least 3-5 years in supervisory or leadership role in sales
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and negotiate effectively with clients
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret sales data and market trends.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software
