Job Description
The Assistant Producer is an essential team member who supports the senior producers in creating and producing CNBC live TV programs and show segments. You will also partner with producers and the Operations team on overall show content and production.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in building and creating world-class business news content for CNBC’s core programming
- Research stories and/or guests, and uncover new angles on stories
- Write scripts, select relevant and appropriate video, soundbites, elements for the shows
- Conceive segment and story ideas, interview questions, and elements for TV programs with producers to develop these ideas into engaging content
- Communicate clearly and effectively in the news gallery
- Maintain a flexible and calm attitude while working in a fast-paced, intense, breaking news environment
- Select graphics, including subject straps and graphics that require little or no editing, choose the relevant durations for data boards and initiate good use of graphic elements in the shows
- Learn to format line-ups with iNews and Avid systems, as well as work efficiently with programs for graphics, subject straps, and data boards
- Develop strong news judgment through consistent research, reading and pursuing good news stories
- Cooperate with video editors, graphic designers, studio directors etc. in Operations to produce stellar programming.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Demonstrated work experience in TV News Production and/or financial sector
- Ability to manage very tight deadlines, work in a fast-paced and intense live news broadcast environment
- Good knowledge of business, economics, and financial markets
- A clear understanding of CNBC’s editorial and programming priorities
- Fluency in English and excellent communication skills
- Ability to work both in a team and independently.
DESIRED ATTRIBUTES
- Minimum 2 years of experience in television news production
- Prior experience working in an international news organization, with control room/gallery exposure
- Knowledge of iNews, Final Cut Pro, TV Production systems, TV graphic systems.
