Assistant Procurement Manager – Operating Supplies and Consumables

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct Operating Supplies & Consumables procurement activities under the direction of the immediate team lead.
  • Maintain and adhere to the company’s purchasing policy and procedures, ensuring that all purchases meet regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, review, and propose new or improved administrative processes and procedures to drive ongoing improvements.
  • Develop comprehensive commodity/category strategies that document end-to-end sourcing approaches, solution development, supplier selection, cost performance, quality performance, and logistics solutions.
  • Excel in supplier negotiations to achieve the best value through various methods such as market tests, long-term agreements, cost modeling, and predictive analytics.
  • Perform comprehensive evaluations to ensure best-in-class pricing, emphasizing total cost of ownership and returns on investments.
  • Summarize sourcing recommendations and convince stakeholders to support the recommended sourcing decisions in a clear and concise manner.
  • Engage in ongoing annual business reviews with key suppliers and internal stakeholders to improve operations and cost efficiencies.
  • Facilitate purchase orders and follow up with suppliers on prompt shipments and delivery to maintain appropriate service levels.
  • Interface independently with stakeholders and provide sound advice and recommendations for decision-making.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service, integrity, respect, trust, and strong time management skills.
  • Perform any other tasks, duties, and/or projects as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education & Certification

  • Minimum a Bachelor’s degree in a related field or relevant working experience.

Experience

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant working experience in procuring functions for key categories, including Operating Supplies.

Other Prerequisites

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to multitask and complete multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and quality work with good analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Resourceful, well-organized, results-oriented, and possess excellent negotiation skills.
  • Excellent business acumen and experience, with the ability to build rapport at all levels.
  • Excellent communication skills to manage stakeholders and resolve issues effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills focused on end-user needs.
  • Maintains a professional appearance at all times.
  • Working knowledge of SAP Ariba, Docusign, Service-Now, and Microsoft Office Suite is a plus.
  • Ability to balance short-term tactical roles with long-term strategic initiatives.
  • Ability to perform complex analysis and develop long-term category plans.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial management, cost management, and contract negotiations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, regulated environment with tight timelines.
