Job description

The Role

1. Surveillance and data management - Collate and analyze statistics and trends on the prevalence of hospital infections.

2. Conduct audits/surveillance on infection control practices. Feedback findings and address any gaps to HODs for corrective actions and improvement.

3. Timely detection and intervention of major infection control issues in the system.

4. Preparation and presentation of surveillance data for sharing & updates during HODs, NQA, TIC, SOD meetings.

5. Prepare surveillance data for submission to MOH and relevant departments.

6. Education and training of staff on infection control related topics.

7. Conduct mask-fitting test for staff.

8. Conduct risk assessment related to construction and renovation works to minimize the risk of dust emission. Conduct surveillance round to check and ensure that barricades are properly in place and workers comply with infection control measures.

9. Plan, organize and coordinate learning events or activities.

10. Develop and review policies.

Key Accountabilities

1. Ensure that the hospital infection control program is effectively implemented.

2. Act as a key resource person between Management, Medical Staff and Ministry of Health for IC activities.

3. Review and confirm records of healthcare-associated infections. Analyze trends and report findings, implement corrective/preventive measures accordingly.

4. Alert management of infection control issues and recommend measures for implementation.

5. Provide updates and reports on infection control matters to the Therapeutics and Infection Control Committee, Ministry of Health, Management and as directed.

6. Ensure accurate quality data collation for Balance Scorecard presentation including surveillance data.

Qualifications & Experience

1. Degree in Nursing or equivalent and recognized by the Singapore Nursing Board.

2. Registered with Singapore Nursing Board is preferred.

3. At least 4 years of relevant experience in infection control, or similar job position and department.

4. Prior experience in clinical audits and presentations is advantageous.

5. Completed the Asia Pacific Society of Infection Control (APSIC) course or other recognized course.

6. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and presentation skills.
