[What the role is]

The Singapore Tourism Board’s (STB) International Group Headquarters & Oceania (IGHQO) Division resides within the International Group (IG). This role is with the IGHQ team based in Singapore and supports STB in varied areas such as international relations, market strategy and planning for its network of regional offices (ROs), aviation and visa facilitation matters, and operational matters pertaining to regional offices' activities in Singapore (e.g., trade and media familiarisation trips, management of trade show logistics).

[What you will be working on]

Main responsibilities:

As Assistant Manager/Manager/Senior Manager, you will be working closely with colleagues, other government agencies and private sector (in particular, tourism industry stakeholders) to fulfil your responsibilities. You will work in a matrix format (i.e., reporting to different team leads) and be assigned several functions across the below areas:

Strategy and Planning

  • Planning Platforms
    • Lead IG’s involvement in key STB-wide (e.g., Tourism Industry Conference, Mid-Year Review, Corporate Planning Exercise) and IG-wide planning platforms.
  • Management Reporting
    • Undertake management reporting relating to tourism performance (e.g., visitor arrival numbers) to relevant internal and external stakeholders.
    • Assess and manage risks related to IG’s mandate.
  • Oversee budget allocation and management across IG.
  • Lead the development of studies/think pieces (e.g., market potential model, OTA study) related to IG’s work.
  • Where relevant, formulate and review our overall visitor source market portfolio and approach to resourcing.

Partnerships and Operations

  • Lead discussions and initiatives with industry stakeholders and OTA partners to further mutual business goals such as increasing visitor arrivals and tourism spends, improving visitor experience, etc.
  • Oversee Tradeshow/Roadshow Management
    • Manage and work with suitable vendor(s) to conceptualise, design, construct and run the Singapore Pavilion at the annual ITB Asia tradeshow in Singapore.
    • Provide counsel to Regional Offices and HQ line units on tradeshow management matters, including the development of the STB Tradeshow Toolkit.
    • Maintenance of templates for in-market events (roadshows/trade update/tradeshows).
    • Maintenance of Singapore industry stakeholder database.
  • Familiarisation Trips and Tourist Guides Management
    • Refining the STB Tourist Guide Framework for familiarisation trips and supervise current panel of Tourist Guides to ensure proper governance is maintained for every familiarisation trip engagement. Duties also include developing training opportunities and overseeing welfare to the panel members.
    • Maintenance of templates for familiarisation trips.
    • Maintenance of Singapore industry stakeholder database.

Market Manager

  • Support assigned market/RO on activities held in Singapore including, but not limited to:
    • Familiarisation trips to Singapore for overseas-based travel trade stakeholders and media personnel.
    • Marketing campaigns.
    • Participation in roadshows/trade events/tradeshows.
    • Coordination of MOU-signing ceremonies.
  • Support assigned market/RO with insights (e.g., aviation) for market planning and development of market studies/strategies.
  • If needed, advance STB’s interests in aviation and visa matters through engagement with relevant public agencies.
  • Support International Relations team for general briefings, courtesy calls or key activities relating to your assigned market/RO.
  • Provide administrative support pertaining to procurement of goods and services to Regional Offices.

Other Division Duties (ad-hoc basis)

  • Oversee learning and development, budget & expenditure for the Department.

[What we are looking for]

  • At least 3-5 years of relevant experience across areas such as strategic planning, project management, marketing and business development.
  • In addition, the ideal candidate should also:
    • Be able to operate well in ambiguous settings without pre-existing established guidelines, and to propose systems/frameworks to operationalise work.
    • Possess good communication (verbal and written) and stakeholder engagement skills.
    • Be comfortable with or interested in research, data and analysis.
  • Prior working experience or familiarity with government agencies and the tourism industry – particularly fields such as aviation will be an advantage.
