Job description

( A ) JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive risk management and patient safety programmes to improve the quality care and ensure patient safety.

( B ) PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Clinical Risk and Safety Management

  • Manage the review and investigation process for all clinical incidents, including serious reportable event reports. Ensure that these incidents are properly classified, evaluated, and addressed in line with national guidelines and legal regulations.
  • Examine and interpret incident data, spot trends, and spearhead hospital initiatives to mitigate clinical risks revealed by incidents, near misses, and audits.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards related to risk management and patient safety.
  • In collaboration with Clinical Leaders and Department Managers, identify and escalate risks to include into the department and corporate risk registers as appropriate.
  • Oversee the claims management function and inquest requirements by liaising with finance, medical affairs, respective heads of departments and legal office on risk-related legal issues. Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies and accreditation bodies.

( C ) SECONDARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


2. Management Responsibilities

  • Day to day operational management of the department
  • Lead and manage development of staff within the department
  • Review, update and communicate policies and procedures timely
  • Support licensing, accreditation and certification activities
  • Serve as a resource and advisor to clinical and administrative staff on risk management, patient safety and quality of care
  • Participate in quality improvement projects and initiatives
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of quality improvement initiatives
  • Perform planned activities including but not limited to quality week events, patient safety leadership walkabouts, reward & recognition events
  • Any other tasks assigned by the Supervisor

(D) REQUIREMENTS:

  • A bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, nursing, or a related field is required. Certification in quality management (e.g., Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality, Certified ISO 9001 Lead Auditor) is highly preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in risk management, patient safety, or quality.
  • Conduct audits, carry out benchmark studies, and review system analyses to implement improvements.
  • Understanding of healthcare quality improvement methods and risk management tools.
  • Capable of working independently, prioritising tasks, and meeting deadlines in a dynamic environment.
