Role Overview

The APAC Supply Chain Leader for MedTech Surgery is a critical leadership position, responsible for the alignment of the APAC strategy with the global MedTech Supply Chain strategy. The main responsibility of the Supply Chain Leader is to optimize supply chain performance, consistently meet customer expectations and manage regional IBP/S&OP. This individual is the primary Supply Chain liaison with the regional commercial leadership to ensure achievement of aligned business goals and objectives. With expertise in End-to-End Supply Chain process improvement, this individual will proactively coordinate cross-functional resources required for three major areas:

Customer Focus: Global Reach and Local Focus - work with a Global mindset to improve Supply Chain agility while increasing our ability to respond to our customer needs in local markets.

Excellence in Execution: Reduce complexity and drive significant improvement in the predictable, reliable supply of quality products that meet / exceed customer expectations.

Strategic Franchise Management: Work with commercial partners / teams and the global Product Management (PM) organization to support strategic business plans by aligning supply chain & BU strategies and tactics to drive profitable growth.

Responsibilities:

Customer Focus

  1. Drive cross-functional collaboration to understand customer needs and translate external customer requirements into supply chain strategies and executions.
  2. Monitor Supply Chain Performance Goals (eg. MAPE/Bias/FVA, Inventory, ESO, OTIF-D, SLA and Cost Improvements), ensures initiation of corrective action and improvement projects as required.
  3. Lead APAC regional SC Planning Team by driving demand planning excellence and champion regional IBP process and meetings – drive balancing demand vs. supply decisions, eventual product allocations and orchestrate resolution of major supply chain issues.
  4. Partner with Commercial, Quality / Regulatory and Cluster Supply Chain for continuous improvement of New Product Implementation (NPI) capability along with Launch Excellence LEx with regional commercial partners.
  5. Identify and prioritize customer centric end-to-end supply chain solutions, while simplifying and standardizing for impact (Fewer, Bigger, Better, Faster).

Excellence in Execution

  1. Ensure End-to-End supply chain processes are supporting customer and business needs. When / where not, work with functional leads to drive improvements.
  2. Improve overall supply network capability and agility to increase our ability to respond to Customer needs in local markets. Ensures initiation of corrective actions with the functional organizations when performance expectation varies to target.
  3. Collaborate with the Business Unit and APAC SCLT to develop and implement a product supply strategy to effectively meet market requirements (lead-times, service levels, late-stage customization).
  4. Work closely with the Functional Leads (Global PLAN, MAKE, Deliver, IT, Finance, Quality, RA) to drive change and new ways of thinking, introducing and leveraging best practices, learning models and LEAN principles; all in the pursuit of end-to-end supply chain excellence.
  5. Establish and consistently use Lead Six Sigma and FPX methodology to drive Execution Excellence, delivering cross-functional end-to-end initiatives.
  6. Drive clear project/program governance and implementation of relevant frameworks for complex regional initiatives that are cross-BU and/or cross-clusters.

Strategic Business Unit Management

  1. Represent the customer and serve as interface between the Global Surgery and the Regional Supply Chain Team, including a strong connection to the local / regional organizations.
  2. Shared accountability on metrics that drive MedTech value (Compliance & Quality, Customer Service, Growth and Efficiency) and business unit performance.
  3. Support / own talent development of supply chain functions to build capabilities in the region and create a strong pipeline of leaders.
  4. Work with global Plan and Platform SC Leaders on efficient product life-cycle management and ensures continuous complexity reduction.
  5. Collaborate with Regional Commercial Lead on NPI and Lifecycle Management (LCM) activities, shared accountability for the business unit impact on gross profit items such as inventory, CIP attainment.

  1. Demonstrated depth of business unit product knowledge and insights of business unit customers.
  2. Ability to lead with limited authority and provide direction and drive positive change.
  3. Ability to drive innovation, prioritize and collaborate in a heavily matrixed environment.
  4. Effective interdependent and proactive partnering with key stakeholders of business unit and MT Supply Chain Organization on a regional and global basis.
  5. Proven talent development champion - plays a critical role in building organizational capability in MedTech (e.g.: End-to-End Lean, IBP /S&OP, FPX, Lex/NPI and product life cycle management) with a particular focus on deepening professionalism in project/program management across APAC.
  6. Ability to deliver on Business unit performance metrics and shared goals in alignment with MT Supply Chain Performance Metrics.

Qualifications:

Experience and key competencies:

  1. Minimum 15 years’ experience in a complex Supply Chain environment and a proven leadership track record in at least 2 of the following functional areas within a global and international organization: manufacturing, planning, distribution, quality.
  2. Experience in healthcare/regulatory dependent sector is desirable.
  3. A professional certification in APICS, PMP, Agile/Scrum, Lean and/or Six Sigma and demonstrated relevant experience in large scale projects/programs will be advantageous.
  4. Demonstrated collaboration with Regulatory and Quality to meet customer expectations.
  5. Proven success in:
  • Creating Customer Centric Supply Chain strategies. Gaining commercial and supply chain support and alignment to deliver the strategy.
  • Leading and developing high performing cross functional and matrix teams.
  • Delivering ‘best in class’ business results through innovative customer focused solutions.
  • Driving design to value in new products with measurable results: financial, quality and cycle time.
  • Creating operational improvement using process excellence tools and leadership.
  • Understanding the linkages in supply chain from demand planning through delivery to customer.
  • Building interdependent partnerships to optimize value proposition with limited authority.
  • Experience in Implementing Digital solution in SC.

Education

  1. Degree in engineering, business or supply chain disciplines required.
  2. Graduate degree/studies in science, business, engineering, finance or organizational management or equivalent experience strongly preferred.
