APAC Investment Analyst

Arena Investors, LP is a global investment management firm that seeks to generate attractive risk-adjusted, consistent and uncorrelated returns by employing a fundamentals-based, asset-oriented financing and investing strategy across the entire credit spectrum in areas where conventional sources of capital are scarce. Through originations and acquisitions of asset-oriented investments across a wide array of commercial and consumer asset types (including but not limited to private direct corporate and commercial real estate bridge lending), the investment team specializes in off-the-run, stressed, distressed, illiquid and esoteric special situation transactions. Arena's investment team develops and designs investment structures to meet the unique needs of each opportunity.

Arena is looking to recruit talented recent graduates to its newly established Analyst Program. Our Analyst Program is an opportunity to join a rapidly growing alternative credit investment firm. Analysts will play a critical role in Arena's effort to deploy capital across its fundamentals-based investment strategy across corporate private credit, real estate, structured product, natural resource, and liquid market verticals. Through on-the-job experience and regular training sessions, analysts will be exposed to various corporate finance and security analysis concepts including credit analysis, financial modeling, business model and capital structure, and fixed income and equity securities, among others. In addition to finance and security analysis, analysts will also learn important applications of law with respect to buy-side investing as well as establishing critical corporate soft skills for successful careers in the financial industry. Analysts will serve as generalists assisting members of the investment team with industry and company due diligence, financing modeling, investment memorandum preparation, and other ad-hoc projects. Ideal candidates will have a demonstrated interest in finance and investing; thrive in an intense, team-oriented environment; and be highly organized, self-motivated, and resourceful.

The investment team that the analyst will be working with is the Asia-Pacific ("APAC") team.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop financial models and perform data/investment analysis.
2. Research new deal opportunities.
3. Participate in business development initiatives.
4. Perform relative value analysis.
5. Assist in the preparation of investment memoranda.
6. Participate in the transaction closing process.
7. Assume transaction post-closing responsibilities.
8. Coordinate with internal functions including Treasury and Operations.

Requirements:

The individual will have demonstrated an ability to work in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment with an ability to think broadly about the business, incorporating continual improvement of processes and procedures with a goal of excellence while focusing on accuracy and efficiency.

1. Bachelor's degree from a top university, ideally in a quantitative area (e.g., finance, economics, accounting, engineering, science or mathematics). Other majors that are ideal include those that require the ability to communicate ideas well either through presentations or writing (e.g. English, philosophy).
2. Excellent Microsoft Excel (VBA a plus); strong writing skills, and clear spoken communicator.
3. Experience with financial modeling and transaction structuring/closing.
4. Thorough understanding of basic financial and accounting concepts.
5. The highest level of personal integrity, discipline, and ethical standards.
6. A positive can-do attitude and desire to work collaboratively across the organization.
7. Strong work ethic and ownership of workflow.
8. Strong attention to detail.
9. Not afraid to ask questions.
10. Passion for investing and deal making.
11. 2-3 years prior experience in finance or accountancy is a plus.
