Job description

As the APAC Field Marketing Director – you will be focused on the entire APAC region and be part of the Global Field Marketing team. You will have a chance to develop, plan and execute marketing activities that drive sales in very close partnership and collaboration with the APAC General Manager. You will lead of team made up of three distinct roles: Field Marketers, Partner Marketers and Marketing Development Reps (lead qualifiers) in the regions of Australia, SEA, India, South Korea and Japan. You will have dotted line responsibility for the Greater China marketing team. This region is expected to direct report mid way thru year one. This role direct reports to the Global Field Marketing Vice President and dotted line dual reports to the APAC General Manager.

You and your team will leave no route to market unturned. You will have three KPIs specifically contribution to revenue, to pipeline and also two way meaningful engagement with target market. You will have a direct responsibility of creating marketing generated pipeline for end users in the named account territories for account executives of all variety to achieve the geographic and regional sales targets. You will also cover all the indirect routes to market include channel, IHVs, GSI, Distributors, hyperscalers and others where applicable.

Activities will typically include digital and physical lead creation campaigns and local events designed to meet marketing contribution to sales pipeline. Activities will be fully integrated with global digital campaigns and focused mostly on middle and bottom of the marketing funnel. The APAC Field Marketing Directorwill work very closely with the SUSE global PR, strategic events, and demand generation teams to extend centrally produced campaigns and activities into the geo.

You will lead by example by working side by side with each team member and engaging routinely and creatively with the marketers and sellers in each region. Every effort (time and treasure) is focused on the sales revenue target end in mind. The position is equal parts demanding and rewarding and the candidate must have high energy, be self-motivated and be able to multi-task and have strong communication skills. Responsibilities:

  • Develop, and be responsible for the execution of, the APAC Field Marketing plan (to meet agreed-upon measurable targets and objectives).
  • Facilitate the development and deployment of marketing programs and activities on SUSE offerings and SUSE-based solutions
  • Create and deliver marketing programs and activities that leverage the full marketing mix including integrated multi-touch programs, social media, digital marketing and events. These programs will be delivered both directly and in collaboration with alliance and field marketing.
  • Oversee the follow-up, nurture and flow of marketing qualified leads to sales to meet marketing contribution targets and maximize the return on investment.
  • Monitor and manage investments within allocated marketing budget.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of field marketing programs.
  • Participate as a fully-engaged member of the field marketing leadership team and equally the APAC extended leadership team
  • Evaluate and measure current processes and, where necessary, establish more efficient and consistent ones.
  • Plan and assist in the execution of partner events, conferences and meetings in cooperation with event marketing and extended marketing and sales teams.

Skills/Experience:

  • 10+ years of B-to-B marketing experience.
  • 2+ years contributing from a virtual work environment.
  • Proven track record of rolling out, managing and successfully executing integrated marketing programs
  • Excellent people leadership skills
  • Experience in field marketing and demand generation
  • Experience in lead qualification
  • Experience in event strategy and execution
  • Experience in the technology industry, preferably working in the computer software and/or hardware field
  • Proven track record in working effectively with cross-functional and international teams, including the sales organization, operations, and finance.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (in English).
  • Proven ability to excel in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong team player with a positive attitude.
  • 20-30% travel will be required
