About the role:
This exciting role as an Analyst or Senior Analyst in the Carbon Trust’s Singapore office has the primary function of supporting the delivery of the broad portfolio of Carbon Trust's advisory work, including corporate decarbonisation roadmap and footprinting projects, large scale Government or donor and philanthropic grant programmes across Southeast Asia.
Example activities that the candidate might get involved in:
- Developing credible decarbonization targets and a feasible roadmap together with a corporate client’s sustainability team;
- Improving the enabling environment for Energy Efficiency (EE) by supporting governments to reform policy frameworks, regulations and standards, and develop market enabling financial mechanisms;
- Working with utilities or governments to chart out pathways and policies needed for retiring their coal power fleets and enabling their renewable energy deployment;
- Supporting financial institutions and their clients on the practical steps to raise and grow green financial flows in the marketplace.
This role will form part of Carbon Trust’s delivery team, working closely with colleagues across the Carbon Trust, external stakeholders, and a broad range of clients. The role also has external engagement responsibilities, including managing relationships with clients, in-country partners, and leading discussions with key stakeholder groups as part of project delivery.
This position will also have the opportunity to support the Carbon Trust’s business growth through providing business development and marketing support to the team and to work on other projects with corporates, governments, multilateral and public sector organisations across the Southeast Asia region. The successful candidate will have an understanding of corporate sustainability and green finance frameworks, low carbon and/or energy policy space within Southeast Asia, with a combination of quantitative and qualitative skills.

Main duties and responsibilities:
The role consists of the following activities related to programme/project delivery and management (70% of role):
- Supporting the delivery of projects with corporate clients or governments in a range of service areas, such as organizational and product carbon footprint, assurance and labelling, Science-Based Targets, climate risk and opportunities, analysing existing regulations and best practices, and developing progressive policy targets.
- Conducting primary and secondary data collection (e.g. through interviews, surveys, and desk-based research).
- Developing and applying frameworks for analysis and problem-solving.
- Executing analytical tasks on projects, such as market analysis, business and financial analysis, and data modelling.
- Building and overseeing complex models in Excel.
- Communicating findings orally and in writing (e.g. writing reports or producing PowerPoint slides).
- Developing and maintaining long-term working relationships with clients and beneficiaries.
- Providing programme management office support, project management delivery, financial administration, and other ad-hoc support to ensure the highly efficient and profitable delivery of programmes and projects.
The role consists of the following activities related to business development (30% of role):
- Supporting the identification and development of new business and project opportunities for the Carbon Trust organisations across Southeast Asia.
- Feeding market insights into the wider marketing team and business, to support proposition development and business development.
- Writing high-quality proposals that reflect the needs of prospective clients and clearly describe the Carbon Trust’s methodology and credentials.
- Supporting delivery of global and regional marketing and communications campaigns with a Southeast Asia focus.
- Preparing engaging and innovative media content for social and other channels, tailored to our target audiences.
- Creating compelling marketing toolkits and case studies, based on local projects and expertise.
Key skills we are looking for:
- Excellent quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience of managing research, including defining methodologies and ensuring the quality of outputs.
- Ability to grasp and apply technical information across a broad spectrum of markets, industries, and organisations.
- Excellent Excel skills and ability to organise data for analysis.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including experience using MS PowerPoint.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain productive relationships and influence decision-making, tailoring approach depending on the seniority level of business contacts.
- Ability to work effectively with colleagues in a team environment, and to work on multiple client projects across a given time period.
- Ability to think and work independently, taking the initiative and ‘ownership’ of tasks, having strong organisational and time management skills.
- Evidence of experience in corporate sustainability consulting and carbon accounting will be an advantage.
- Evidence of experience in communications and marketing will be an advantage.
- Fluent spoken and written English. Proficiency in any other languages used in Southeast Asia would be desirable.
Qualifications and experience:
- Degree educated (or equivalent), with preference in business, energy systems, engineering, economics, environmental science, or public policy.
- Some demonstrable experience gained working either in a relevant role for a government, multilateral or public sector organisation, or as a sustainability consultant working across energy, climate change or corporate sustainability sectors.
- Demonstrated knowledge of low-carbon development mechanisms such as energy efficiency, energy transition, renewable energy, carbon markets, etc.
Strong knowledge of the Southeast Asia landscape on energy policy, climate change, green finance, and environmental sustainability in Southeast Asia.
Salary & Benefits:
We offer a competitive salary and a performance-based bonus. Our hours are 37.5 per week with 17 days paid annual leave rising to 18 after 1 full year’s service, plus bank holidays and a generous pension scheme.
