We have an excellent opportunity for an AI Scientist to join our Video Intelligence Engineering team, focusing on building a large-scale platform for video surveillance and analytics for both government and enterprise sectors. We have access to an advanced video platform, large amounts of exclusive data, and deploy VA solutions to thousands of cameras in different countries.

This position aims to explore and develop generative AI solutions, particularly Visual Language Models and relevant agentic solutions, for Video Analytics to bring the power of AI to cameras across Singapore and beyond. Supported by our engineering and data teams, the scientists have the freedom to conduct their research and explore state-of-the-art technologies to tackle challenging real-world problems. Furthermore, they will help to widen connections with the research community through collaborations with universities and research institutes, as well as participating in international competitions and conferences.

Role Profile:

As an AI Scientist, you will conduct research and experiments to explore, customize, and enhance AI models and agentic solutions to showcase and deliver NCS AI capabilities to our customers. You will collaborate with the Engineering team, Data team, and Sales team to develop, demonstrate in Proof-of-Concepts, and integrate the models into production systems. Additionally, you will participate in the team’s innovation sharing and networking to stay ahead of AI technological advancements.

What will you do?

1. Conduct in-depth research and develop novel deep learning models to address challenging video analytics problems, such as camouflage person detection, fine-grained object recognition, and dense crowd counting.
2. Explore, customize, and enhance state-of-the-art Generative AI models (e.g., Large Language Models (LLMs), Vision Language Models (VLMs)) for innovative video analytics applications, such as video captioning and activity recognition.
3. Explore, customize, and develop agentic solutions for video analytics specifically, and security applications in general.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

1. Collaborate and work closely with our Data and Engineering teams to efficiently develop, seamlessly integrate, and reliably deploy AI models into production systems.
2. Assist the Sales team in demonstrating developed technologies and preparing technical specifications for tenders.

Innovation Advancement:

1. Propose directions and participate in discussions to shape the future of the company’s core technologies.
2. Engage in external collaborations for deeper research with universities and research institutes.

Key Challenges:

1. Deeply understand the pros and cons of state-of-the-art machine learning, deep learning, and generative AI models and algorithms.
2. Achieve required accuracy and performance within hardware limitations.
3. Develop algorithms for large-scale model serving.
4. Continuously identify and study the latest trends in AI algorithms and technologies as well as video analytics.

The ideal candidate should possess:

1. At least one year of experience in computer vision projects or video analytics-related industry.
2. Robust knowledge in machine learning, neural networks, deep learning, and generative AI technologies to study, utilize, and customize them.
3. Experience and fundamental understanding of deep learning and transformer architectures.
4. Good foundational knowledge of learning algorithms such as Supervised Finetuning (SFT), Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF), etc.
5. Knowledge about model quantization and performance optimization.
6. Experience with at least one deep learning framework such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
7. Familiarity with at least one programming language such as Python, C/C++, etc.
8. Self-motivated with strong passion for video analytics or deep learning and generative AI in general.
9. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
10. Milestone awareness.
11. Master's or Ph.D. degree in computer science or a related technical field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be appreciated.
