Job Summary
- The AD, Sustainable Finance Solutions - Governance (Maternity Cover) will have experience in governance across the Bank. They will have a knowledge of Sustainable Finance and ESG regulatory developments, supervisory standards and best practices including SCB’s standards and processes. They will have a passion for Sustainable Finance and be a self-starter and quick learner.
- They will ensure that the risk control environment in CSO (Chief Sustainability Office) at Standard Chartered is reviewed regularly and all required mitigants are in place. They will be able to relate these risks and mitigants to the wider Sustainable Finance landscape and have a good understanding of Greenwashing risk.
Strategy
- Support the risk and controls monitoring of CSO processes and sustainable finance products, with a focus on the set up and running of the CSO Non-Financial Risk committee (NFRC) and other CSO governance committees
- Support the development and monitoring of sustainable finance products, with a particular focus on governance and controls.
Business
- Assist in ensuring that all new products, which form a significant part of the Sustainable Finance corporate plan, have robust risk controls built around them
- Ensure actions around SF product / process governance uplift are tracked and followed up
Processes
- Ensure SF adheres to existing operational processes and work to improve or create new operational processes and controls e.g., working closely with Head of Product Solutions on governance for new products
- Ensure that existing controls are implemented and reviewed regularly including conducting Controls Sample Testing (CSTs), Residual Risk Assessments per Risk Controls Self-Assessment.
- Ensure that actions (from governance committees, audit, regulator conversations) are followed up with rigour
People and Talent
- Develop a strong working relationship with COO Functions, Finance, GRPA, Compliance, Legal, RSR, Climate Risk and Group Sustainability
Risk Management
- Ensure risks within processes and products are escalated and monitored appropriately with an action plan going forward
- Ensure that appropriate risk metrics relating to CSO processes are submitted and monitored
- Assist in ensuring all material operational risks are identified, assessed, mitigated, monitored and reported to relevant governance forums
- Assist SF Solutions in identifying areas of operational risk for new products and new business, regulatory and thematic risks, and then being able to ensure implementation of appropriate controls to mitigate these risks
- Assist in ensuring that product constructs are robust and that risk controls are adequately implemented
Governance
- Assist with project management of key initiatives and coordinating with stakeholders across COO, Product Teams, Risk, Legal and Compliance, Finance, and others
- Support the projects related to product roll outs and Sustainable Finance Governance
- Responsible for ensuring SF Solutions owned documents are refreshed in a timely manner
- Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.

Our Ideal Candidate
- 4+ years of experience in a regulated financial institution or equivalent such as fintech
- Experience in compliance, governance, controls on risk background
- Some understanding of sustainable finance products, with a particular focus on governance and controls
- Good understanding of the regulatory requirements and framework
- Good knowledge of Environment and Social Risk
