Added shipping industry exposure is useful but this is not a must
Our client is a global shipping MNC (based in town and within 10 min walk from the nearest MRT station). The company allows for a WFH arrangement of 1 to 2 times a week (after the candidate passes the probation period).
Summary: To provide financial administrative services so as to ensure effective, efficient and accurate financial and administrative operations complying with the internal policies and external laws and legislations.
Reports to: Accounting Manager
Location: Singapore
Role and Responsibilities:
Financial/Management Accounts
To ensure that the following are prepared accurately and on time:
- Profit & Loss account by Service
- Trend analysis
- Forecast by Service
- Policies are adhered to
To ensure that the following are prepared monthly:
- Run off schedules for provision of operating costs
- Accruals of unbilled revenue and unearned revenue
- Bunker Stock Cards
- Charter Hire and brokerage commission accrual
Agents
To ensure:
- Agents’ disbursements are promptly and accurately verified and payments arranged
- Standard Policies and Procedures are adhered to by Agents
- Agents’ reconciliations are current and disputes are resolved promptly
- Any changes in Port Tariff, Coof and GAC are updated promptly
- Agents are funded correctly
Joint Ventures
- Coordinate with JV partner on timely submission of their reports
- Reconciliation / finalization of accounts
- Resolution of disputes with JV partners
- Follow up of payments from/to partners
Budgets
To Prepare and check correctness of:
- Profit and Loss by Service.
- Application of assumptions.
To ensure:
- Compliance with instructions and deadlines
- Workings are correct
- Actual/full year forecast vs budget are reasonable and correct
Audits
- Timely accounts schedules for Audit
- Follow up and resolve all audit concerns
Reports
To prepare and submit:
- Monthly Forecast Reports
- Monthly Profit & Loss account by Service
- Monthly trend analysis and commentaries by Service
- Agents and JV Reconciliation Statements
- Analysis for various provision accounts
- Accounts Schedules as required by Group Accountant for Audit purpose
Information systems
- Active participation in providing input and finding solutions for new / changes to existing systems.
- To check and to test new reports (when performing parallel runs)
- Other Ad-hoc Projects as required from time to time.
Requirements:
Education & Knowledge
- Accounting Diploma/ Degree Holders with minimum 3-4 years of relevant accounting experience
- Preferably with SAP consulting experience or SAP experience in commercial environment
- Added shipping industry exposure is useful but this is not a must
- Strong working knowledge of MS Excel
- Has a stable cv
- Hands-on and able to multi task
