Position: Accountant

Position Overview:

The Accountant at FirstCom Academy is responsible for managing financial records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting the finance team in daily operations. This role requires a meticulous and analytical individual who can handle financial reporting, reconciliation, and cash flow management to support the academy’s financial stability and growth. Additionally, this role may require handling accounts receivables and working closely with the Finance Manager to ensure smooth financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure timely recording of transactions.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, including Profit & Loss (P&L), Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow reports.
  • Conduct bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow to ensure smooth financial operations.
  • Review and process invoices, payments, and expense claims, ensuring proper documentation and approvals.
  • Handle accounts receivables, ensuring timely invoicing, tracking outstanding payments, and following up with learners or corporate clients for payment collection.
  • Assist in grant claims processing, including SkillsFuture Credit (SFC) and Post-Secondary Education Account (PSEA) funding applications.
  • Work closely with the Finance Manager to manage financial reporting, resolve discrepancies, and improve finance processes.
  • Ensure compliance with Singapore’s financial regulations, tax laws, and grant funding requirements.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities by providing financial insights and analysis.
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory bodies for financial audits and compliance matters.
  • Assist in payroll processing and statutory contributions (CPF, IRAS tax submissions).
  • Identify opportunities for financial process improvements and automation.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in full set accounting or finance roles, preferably in the education or training sector.
  • Strong knowledge of Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS) and tax regulations.
  • Experience with accounting software such as Xero, or Netsuite.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reporting.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • 9:00 am – 6:00 pm (Monday – Friday)

  • Salary Range: $4,000.00 - $5,000.00
  • Full-Time Permanent Position (Basic + Performance Bonuses + Als + Medical and Dental Benefits)
