3 shifts Medical Technologist (Haematology /Biochemistry )#HYS

Job Responsibilities:

1. Responsible to perform, depending on the section posted, a variety of test procedures according to the standards set in the Laboratory.
2. Routine sample processing such as spinning and aliquoting of patient samples.
3. Routine qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses on blood, CSF (cerebrospinal fluid), urine and other body fluids.
4. Routine haematology procedures.
5. Routine bacteriological procedures, including cultures, isolation and identification techniques and antibiotic sensitivity testing.
6. Routine Blood Banking procedures.
7. Routine immunology and serology procedures.
8. Routine microscopy procedures.
9. Responsible to perform registration of patient samples, handling telephone inquiries by clients and printing and faxing of patient results.
10. Follows Laboratory policy for registration, billing, identification, processing, reporting, result retrieval and record/specimen keeping.
11. Complies and maintains all applicable safety regulations in the Laboratory.
12. Maintains proper inventory levels of all Clinical Laboratory consumables and reagents and informs senior staff if supply is low.
13. Checks the performance of all instruments and equipment in the Laboratory and reports any equipment which is not functioning properly.
14. Complies with all regulatory guidelines, participating in CAP proficiency testing programs and in hospital quality assurance programs.
15. Participates in a routine maintenance program for instruments and in ongoing continuing education and professional development programs.

Requirements:

1. Recognised Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent.
2. Recognised Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology or Diploma or equivalent.
3. With a minimum of 3 years of experience in Clinical Laboratory.
