Job Summary

Members of Marina Bay Sands family and crew of Motor Yacht Paiza One offer contemporary ultra-luxurious service with a strong commitment to create unforgettable memories for our guests and passengers.

The 2nd steward/ess aboard the vessel enthusiastically supports the chief steward/ess in all hospitality related duties as needed and acts as a relief of the chief steward/ess in his or her absence. He/she has the ability to easily and professionally interact with guests, providing excellent service in every aspect of their on-board experience. This role requires knowledge of expert housekeeping and laundry protocols, fine dining and wine service as well as inventory management, skilled organization and administration of interior items. This individual is responsible for guest satisfaction onboard and must have the ability to anticipate owner/guest needs and exceed their expectations.

Job Responsibilities

Operational

  1. Managing the operation of hospitality services including the provision of food and beverage services experience, housekeeping, and leisure activities, and acts as the on-board liaison with guests to plan and schedule meals, beverage services, onshore activities, and acts as the liaison with the galley team in absence of the Chief Steward/ess.
  2. Supports the chief steward/ess to conduct pre-voyage inspections for all aspects of safe and successful voyage – Provision, cleanliness, adherence to the guest pre-cruise checklist.
  3. Supports deck crew with lines and fenders on deck during departure and arrival.
  4. Act quickly and appropriately during emergencies to ensure vessel and passenger safety.

Management

  1. Manages and supervises the stewarding crew and maintains crew discipline, supports regular safety drills, sets schedules, conducts service skills training, and ensures maintenance of the salon, bars, and cabin inventory.

Leadership

  1. Directs and manages the activities of the crew as required and ensures that all crew members understand fully and completely what duties they are expected to perform.
  2. Maintains professional relationships with crew to ensure the safety, comfort, and convenience of passengers.
  3. Effectively identifies, develops, supports, and grows talent under his/her leadership.

Accounting/IT

  1. Updates the in-yacht planning management software with issues and events.

Compliance

  1. Operates the hospitality side of the vessel and aspects in accordance with Marina Bay Sands standard operating procedures, checklists, and limitations and as directed by the bridge and the Head of Department.

Safety

  1. Participates in the Safety Management System.
  2. Participates in Emergency Response Plan.
  3. Takes charge in emergency situations and is last to abandon ship.
  4. Applies Operational Risks Aversion.
  5. Follows Marina Bay Sands Workplace Safety and Health Policy practices.
  6. Reports any work incidents; may include vandalism, fight, fire, abuse, accidents, etc.
  7. Observes activities; reports any suspicious characters, items and/or activities to support team at Marina Bay Sands.

Collaboration

  1. Collaborates with the MBS Lifestyle team, planning and communicating various itineraries in various cruising areas.
  2. Works collaboratively and effectively with Marina Bay Sands senior management to ensure the highest levels of communication and understanding of all Paiza One lifestyle experience strategies.
  3. Enables and supports a culture of communication, collaboration, knowledge, and professional growth to build strong relationships amongst the OneMBS teams.
  4. Prioritizes his/her own professional development and works with Head of Department and Captain to enhance skill sets with respect to leadership, communication, organization, and strategic development.
  5. Works on other ad-hoc initiatives as required in a highly dynamic environment.
  6. Ability and willingness to work flexible days and hours as required by the business.
  7. Maintains a healthy work/life balance.
  8. Contributes ideas in support of the company vision, mission, value, and guiding principles.

Miscellaneous

  1. Practices well-mannered behavior and grooming according to company standards.
  2. Attends scheduled meetings as required.
  3. Active involvement in Sands Care and sustainability programs.
  4. Performs any other duties and responsibilities as and when assigned by Management.

Job Requirements

Education & Certification

  1. STCW 2010 BST

Experience

  1. 2-3 years experience as a stew on superyachts.
  2. 1 year superyacht charter stew.

Other Prerequisites

  1. Having a good command of spoken and written English.
  2. Confident and charismatic personality with a great attitude towards passengers and crew.
  3. Risk averse.
  4. Mature, meticulous, resourceful, organized, and able to work independently and under pressure.
  5. Strong communication, management and interpersonal skills, superior leadership.
  6. Maintains professional appearance ensuring highest levels of service experiences for passengers.
  7. Possesses superior working knowledge of service skills – silver service, wine, cocktails, table setting, bartending, barista skills, housekeeping – laundry, stain removal, delicate surface care, beds, and flowers.
  8. Ability to remain calm and give directions in an emergency situation.
  9. Competent in reviewing financial accounts and propose forecasts and budgets of costs.
  10. Must be able to travel and enter countries worldwide without restrictions and be eligible to apply for VISAs where these are required.
