We are looking for a Platform Engineer for Data & Analytics within Engineering Data Hub

We are the Platform Operations and Engineering team, working to accelerate and streamline the use of data, analytics, and AI. The team innovates and collaborates to offer a great user experience, and to provide a unified self-service platform.

What you'll do

As a Data Platform Engineer, you will be at the forefront of designing and building a Platform to bolster the data and analytics capabilities of the Volvo Cars Engineering organization. Your responsibilities will include configuring and setting up cloud infrastructure, deploying and operating data-oriented applications on Kubernetes, and working closely with other teams and platform users to gather requirements and maintain seamless operations. We are in a crucial development phase for our next-generation platform, presenting you with a unique opportunity to contribute directly to its foundation. Your input will shape its trajectory, setting the stage for future growth and success.

• Languages: Python, Go
• PaaS: Databricks, Snowflake

This role is based in Gothenburg, Sweden, and Volvo Cars is an office-first culture so you will be expected to work the majority of time from our office in Torslanda, Gothenburg.

What you'll bring

We are looking for a proactive individual with a solution-oriented mindset, who is proficient in the following areas:

• Public cloud infrastructure, including hands-on experience with compute, networking and storage in Azure, AWS, or equivalent.
• DevOps practices such as Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD, and Continuous Deployment.
• Containerization and container orchestration using Kubernetes or equivalent.
• Administration and operation of Kubernetes clusters or equivalent.

In addition, experience in any of the following is highly valued:

• Networking, security, and reliability in enterprise cloud solutions.
• Tools and technologies for working with Big Data, including event streaming (e.g. Kafka, MQTT), large-scale data processing (e.g. Apache Spark, Ray), and storage solutions for Big Data (e.g. Apache Iceberg, Delta Lake).
• User and device authentication, data and resource access control, and data privacy protection.

We believe you have a minimum of 5 years of experience in related fields, that you are familiar with Agile methods, and that you are fluent in English, both verbal and written. You are a person with a proactive approach, a problem solver, and a flexible team player.
