The Piping Supervisor requires the following skills and qualifications:
- Excellent construction site management skills
- Piping Design, P&ID and Isometrics
- Excellent scheduling and contract management skills
- In-depth knowledge of applicable codes and standards (ASME, ASTM, ANSI, API, etc.)
- In-depth knowledge of scheduling software (P6 or Project) and Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of construction tools and equipment such as structural drawings, piping materials, surveys, budgets, permits, safety aspects, and so on
The Piping Supervisor will be responsible for:
- Mechanical piping, supports, hanger and welding installations for A/G
- Providing technical and supervisory support, guidance, and mentoring to the Sub-Contractor construction team
- Determining manpower, tools, equipment, and material requirements for the craft
- Evaluating and collaborating with other groups for piping support installation, small and large bore pipe installation, insulation activities along with flushing and pressure testing
- Supervising and directing subordinate personnel and craft in construction activities within the piping discipline
- Strong knowledge of pipe fabrication and installation, pneumatic and hydrostatic pressure testing, and mechanical completion
- Supporting, promoting, and championing a positive safety culture and ensuring all parties are reminded of expectations regarding safety as the number one priority
- Monitoring permit and safe plan of action compliance
- Continuously observing and monitoring the interface of all construction activities for all disciplines, assisting the managing contractor in resolving any interface coordination issues
- Ensuring safety requirements of the project are met by all parties by supporting and encouraging safe work practices
- Encouraging and promoting communication and teamwork
- Monitoring the daily working plan and reviewing the work accomplished by each craft
- Ensuring the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation
- Preparing reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, craft personnel forecasts, and expenditures forecast
- Monitoring manpower, tools, and equipment usage on the site
- Monitoring the activities of subcontractors to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules
- Coordinating activities with other disciplines or areas
- Assisting in the review and appraisal of method statements and risk assessments for technical content and safety considerations
- Supervising the contractor's execution of the works, ensuring project quality requirements and standards are met, including monitoring of contractor Inspection and Test Plans (ITP’s)
- Being prepared to work shift patterns (day or night)
- Assisting in system walkdowns with contractor and client
- Attending daily and weekly coordination meetings
- Assisting the managing contractor in monitoring progress & productivity being reported by contractors
- Assisting the AP Construction Manager in developing detailed reporting of assessment of works and contractor performance
The required Education and Experience:
- BS degree in Engineering
- 5-10 years of experience in the industry
