Role profile
Reporting to the KSA HSE Director, the HSE Manager will provide support to the Projects business across operations in the KSA.
The HSE Manager Projects will work under the line management of the KSA HSE Director covering the operations of the AtkinsRéalis Projects business across KSA. Ideally being based out of Riyadh the HSE Manager Projects will be expected to travel within KSA providing oversight to AtkinsRéalis Projects as required.
The role requires a background in main contracting with a good understanding of civil and construction activities. Additionally, the successful applicant will be experienced in mechanical and electrical installation works, with a strong working knowledge of safe systems of work around energy isolations.
Key Responsibilities
Develop an HSE Management System: Align it with AtkinsRéalis BlueBook standards for all Project sites.
Establish Comprehensive HSE Plans: Ensure each site has a robust HSE Plan addressing management aspects of projects.
Integrate HSE in Contractor Prequalification: Develop and implement systems to include HSE in contractor prequalification processes.
Incident Investigation: Investigate incidents and Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) events to derive and share lessons across projects.
Manage HSE Engineers: Act as a line manager for HSE Engineers located on project sites. Site Visits and Support: Regularly visit projects to support onsite HSE teams.
Client Collaboration on HSE Compliance: Work closely with clients to ensure HSE requirements are met and documented.
Develop HSE Training Program: Focus on Critical Risks as outlined in the AtkinsRéalis BlueBook.
Conduct HSE Audits: Regularly audit projects, address nonconformities, and track them until closure.
Contractor Risk Management: Ensure contractors have systems for risk control, especially in work planning and method statements.
Promote a Just HSE Culture: Foster a culture of fairness and learning in HSE practices.
Support Project Teams: Assist resident engineers and project managers with HSE-related matters.
Promote AtkinsRéalis Values: Be an ambassador for corporate values and best practices in HSE. Advise Senior Management: Support senior management with leadership tours and HSE advisories.
Engage with Operational Management: Promote HSE values in business forums to reinforce core safety practices.
Liaise with Regulatory Bodies: Work with authorities to position AtkinsRéalis as a leader in HSE. Strengthen Client Relationships: Build robust ties with client management to support HSE objectives.
Implement Technology and Innovation: Explore and integrate new technologies that enhance safety measures, such as wearable tech for monitoring health risks or AI for risk assessment and incident prediction.
Feedback Mechanisms: Establish channels for receiving and acting on feedback from employees at all levels, encouraging proactive engagement and continuous improvement in HSE practices.
Mental Health Initiatives: Develop and promote mental health programs to address work-related stress and support overall employee well-being, essential for safe work environments.
Experience and Qualifications
The candidate will have the following experience:
5 years of Middle East experience, ideally in KSA
15–20 year overall experience in HSE
Main contractor experience
Strong working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems
The candidate will have the following qualifications:
Member of IOSH
NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
Degree in electrical or mechanical engineering is preferred
