Technical Expert/Client Liaison Engineer – Civil Engineering (Airport Projects)

The vision for the King Salman International Airport (KSIA) in Riyadh is truly a first of a kind sustainable airport and airport city development. The expansion anticipates accommodating up to 120 million passengers annually through 2030, quadrupling the current capacity of 30 million. The airport is expected to become one of the world’s busiest international hubs, accommodating 185 million passengers and up to 3.5 million tons of cargo annually by 2050. We are seeking an experienced Technical Expert/Client Liaison Engineer specializing in civil engineering for airport projects. The role involves being a critical part of a site-based team led by the Engineering Director, coordinating civil design, analysis, and construction oversight (if required) while serving as a key liaison with clients and stakeholders.
In this role, you will report to the Building Assets Director.
The successful candidate will have a strong technical background, proven experience in airport infrastructure and superstructure projects, and excellent client management skills. This position requires collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality, innovative, and compliant civil solutions in a fast-paced, aviation-focused environment.
Minimum 15 years of experience in civil engineering, with at least 5 years in airport infrastructure and terminal building projects. Proven experience in a client liaison role, managing relationships with stakeholders on complex projects. Expertise in the design, installation, and maintenance of mechanical and plumbing systems in airport environments, including airside and landside facilities.
Strong knowledge of airport infrastructure design and construction, including drainage systems, pavements, grading, and utility networks. Proficiency in civil engineering software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, InfraWorks, and other relevant tools. Familiarity with geotechnical and environmental considerations in airport projects. Understanding of airfield operational requirements and the ability to integrate them into design and construction plans.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to manage relationships with airport authorities, contractors, and stakeholders. Ability to convey complex mechanical and plumbing concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders. Proven experience in conducting stakeholder meetings, progress briefings, and workshops.
In-depth knowledge of aviation-specific regulations and guidelines, such as ICAO Annexes, IATA standards, FAA regulations, and local civil engineering codes. Familiarity with sustainability practices, including LEED, BREEAM, or similar frameworks for civil works.
Expertise in coordinating multi-disciplinary teams, including structural, geotechnical, and environmental engineers. Strong capabilities in planning, scheduling, and budgeting civil engineering works for complex airport projects. Experience in risk management and contract administration.
Deep understanding of construction safety practices and standards, particularly in high-security environments like airports. Experience in conducting quality control inspections for civil works and ensuring adherence to project specifications.

Fluency in English is mandatory; knowledge of Arabic is a plus. Experience working in diverse, multicultural, and international project environments.
Willingness to be based on-site in Riyadh and travel as required by project demands. Flexibility to adapt to changing project schedules and priorities.
