Purpose of the job:

The Social Media and Digital Content Creator is responsible for developing, creating, and managing engaging content across BISJ’s digital platforms, including social media, the school website, and other online channels. This position will play a key role in increasing the school's digital presence, driving engagement with prospective and current students, parents, and the broader community, and supporting the school’s overall marketing and communications strategy. The ideal candidate will be a local citizen with a creative mindset, strong content creation skills, and a passion for digital media.

Role and Responsibilities:

  1. Content Creation & Strategy:
    • Develop creative and innovative content ideas that align with BISJ’s brand identity and strategic marketing objectives.
    • Create compelling and engaging content for social media, website, and other digital platforms, ensuring it is consistent with the school’s voice and messaging.
    • Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications Manager to ensure content supports school events, news, student achievements, and community initiatives.
  2. Video Production:
    • Plan, shoot, and edit high-quality videos for social media and the school’s website, showcasing school activities, events, and key messaging.
    • Capture footage at school events, interviews, and behind-the-scenes activities, creating compelling visual stories that engage the audience.
    • Edit videos for optimal performance on various digital channels, ensuring they are appropriately formatted and optimized for each platform.
  3. Social Media Calendar Management:
    • Develop and manage a comprehensive monthly social media content calendar for all platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, and the school website).
    • Schedule and post content regularly to maintain an active and consistent presence across all platforms, ensuring a balance between promotional, educational, and community-oriented content.
    • Monitor trends, student and alumni stories, and school activities to integrate into the content calendar, keeping content fresh and relevant.
  4. Website Content Updates:
    • Oversee content updates on the BISJ website, ensuring that it reflects the latest news, events, and information in a timely and engaging manner.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure website content is aligned with school priorities and includes important details about admissions, academic programs, and student life.
    • Ensure website content is user-friendly and optimized for search engines (SEO) to attract prospective students and parents.
  5. Community Engagement:
    • Actively engage with BISJ’s online community by responding to comments, direct messages, and inquiries across social media platforms.
    • Monitor social media channels for mentions of the school and respond promptly to foster positive conversations and maintain an active online presence.
    • Build relationships with the online community, promoting engagement through interactive posts, polls, and Q&A sessions.
  6. Analytics and Reporting:
    • Track and analyze social media metrics using platform analytics tools (e.g., Facebook Insights, Instagram Analytics, Google Analytics) to measure the effectiveness of campaigns.
    • Prepare monthly reports on social media performance, including reach, engagement, and growth, and provide insights on how to improve future content.
    • Use data-driven decisions to optimize content strategy and social media campaigns, ensuring continuous growth in audience engagement.

Safeguarding:

  • All background checks must be completed prior to the start of employment or updated as necessary during employment.
  • BISJ’s mandatory Safeguarding training must remain current and up to date for all staff members throughout their time in the position.
  • It is essential to consistently adhere to BISJ’s Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy, ensuring that any concerns are promptly reported to the Designated Safeguarding Officer(s) (DSO).

Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube) and their best practices for engagement and growth.
  • Familiarity with video production tools and editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar).
  • Understanding of website content management systems (CMS) and basic SEO principles.
  • Knowledge of social media analytics tools and the ability to interpret data to optimize content strategy.

Skills:

  • Creative thinking and a strong ability to develop original content that aligns with the school’s branding and objectives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft engaging posts and respond effectively to community inquiries.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented and able to maintain consistency across digital platforms.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer, etc.)

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in social media management, content creation, or digital marketing.
  • Experience in video production and editing for social media and website content.
  • Prior experience in an educational or corporate setting is a plus but not essential.
  • Proven ability to engage with online communities and increase social media engagement.
