A Site Surveyor for Water Infrastructure Projects is a key professional responsible for conducting land surveys and data collection to support the planning, design, and execution of water-related infrastructure, including water networks, pump stations, sewage networks, and treatment plants. This role involves accurately measuring and mapping land to ensure the effective implementation of critical water projects. The job description typically includes the following responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

  1. Land Surveying for Water Infrastructure:
    • Conduct land surveys to determine property boundaries, topography, and other land characteristics relevant to water infrastructure projects.
    • Use specialized surveying equipment, such as total stations, GPS, and electronic surveying instruments, to collect precise measurements.
  2. Data Collection and Analysis:
    • Collect and record accurate data, including distances, angles, elevations, and geographic coordinates, for water infrastructure project planning.
    • Analyze survey data to create detailed maps, plans, and drawings that accurately represent land features, ensuring they align with the project's requirements.
  3. Utility Surveys:
    • Perform utility surveys to identify the location of existing underground infrastructure, such as water and sewage lines, and ensure the proposed project avoids conflicts.
  4. Construction Surveys:
    • Conduct construction surveys to verify that water infrastructure, including pipelines, pump stations, and sewage networks, are constructed in the correct locations and conform to design specifications.
  5. Legal Documentation and Compliance:
    • Prepare and maintain comprehensive records of surveys, including field notes, photographs, and legal descriptions.
    • Ensure that survey reports and drawings comply with relevant legal standards, regulations, and water industry guidelines.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field.
  • Relevant certification or licensure, depending on the location and jurisdiction.
  • Proficiency in surveying equipment and software, with experience in water infrastructure projects being a plus.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills, particularly as they apply to water network planning and design.
  • Attention to detail and precision in data collection and analysis.
  • Knowledge of relevant legal standards, regulations, and industry-specific guidelines for water infrastructure.
