Site Safety Officer

Job Responsibilities:

• Report to Site Resident Engineer, has full responsibility and accountability for both site and plant construction activities.
• Proactively promote safety awareness and adherence to Environmental and Safety local and international regulations.
• Responsible for review and approval of Contractor’s construction safety and health plan and procedures in accordance with OSHA standards and requirements.
• Ensure that Emergency Preparedness Plans are reviewed and issued by the Contractor.
• Responsible for review and approval of Contractor’s Environmental Management Plan and procedures in accordance with the local requirements.
• Responsible for monitoring, supervising all on-site construction safety behaviors and activities.
• Ensure onsite Safety and Health compliance by Contractor, Sub-Contractors, Suppliers, and Project Team including conducting safety inspections of on-site work areas and identification of potential hazards.
• Coordinate the resolution of issues arising from on-site safety inspection process.
• Ensure that the Contractor is carrying out safety training for his workforce and weekly Tools Box meetings are held.
• Inspect on-site mobile vehicles (crane, loader, excavator, bobcat, boom lift, etc).
• Inspect working on High elevation, fall protection, scaffolding.
• Conduct drills such as Fire drills and Emergency Evacuation drills.
• Check and inspect power, electrical, mechanical tools etc used by the workers at the job site to secure in good conditions to avoid any untoward accident happen while performing or commencing their job.
• Prepare and implement barricade and signage wherever required at site.
• Monitor proper supply of drinking water for the workforce.
• Checking Housekeeping and tidiness of the toilets.
• Put necessary safety precautions before starting any job.
• Always keep in touch and close with all workers to remind them of safety.
• Inspect Storage & Handling of Flammable Liquids & Gases, Hazardous Substances, Health.
• Ensure that the Contractor is providing his workforce with all the required safety gears.
• Conduct accident investigation and issue accident reporting. Maintain a Register of all Accident Reporting.
• Investigate and resolve complaints, reports of injuries, problems and questions regarding safety and health concerns from all work site stakeholders.
• Investigate accident/incident including near misses and determine probable causes and develop appropriate safety measures to prevent recurrence of similar incidents.
• Lead and conduct weekly Safety Review Meetings with the Contractor Safety personnel.
• Conduct Monthly Safety Audit of site and preparing site HSE Evaluation (Audit) Report.

Desired Candidate Profile:

• A minimum of Health & Safety Executive (HSE) and/or Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) certificate/diploma.
• Holding a National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) certificate/diploma is desirable.
• 10 years of previous work experience in the role of construction site safety supervisory functions.
• Experience in accident/incident investigations and reports.
• Work knowledge and Experience in KSA.
• Proven and reliable employment track record.
• Fully conversant with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and good practices.
• Proven influential leadership skills in previous areas of responsibility.
