Role Description

The Site Engineer will be responsible for overseeing on-site construction activities, ensuring adherence to project specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations. This role involves direct coordination with contractors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution, progress monitoring, and issue resolution.

1. Site Supervision & Execution

  1. Monitor and supervise daily site activities to ensure compliance with project plans and timelines.
  2. Ensure all construction work aligns with approved drawings, BOQ, and contract requirements.
  3. Verify contractors adherence to design specifications and engineering standards.

2. Quality Assurance & Compliance

  1. Enforce quality control measures and safety protocols on-site.
  2. Conduct inspections and ensure compliance with building codes and company standards.
  3. Identify and mitigate risks that could impact project quality or safety.

3. Technical Support & Problem-Solving

  1. Diagnose and resolve technical issues encountered during construction.
  2. Provide technical guidance to contractors and site personnel.
  3. Approve RFIs (Requests for Information) and review shop drawings as necessary.

4. Documentation & Reporting

  1. Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports on project progress.
  2. Maintain site records, including MOM (Minutes of Meeting), cost estimates, and inspection reports.
  3. Assist in managing project documentation related to site operations.

5. Coordination & Communication

  1. Liaise with contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders to ensure seamless execution.
  2. Attend and participate in project meetings and provide updates on construction progress.
  3. Ensure effective follow-up on project schedules, material deliveries, and work approvals.

6. Change Order & Invoice Management

  1. Monitor and prevent unnecessary change orders by ensuring contractor compliance with design specifications.
  2. Manage contractor invoices, verifying quantities and completed work before approvals.

7. Testing, Commissioning & Handover

  1. Oversee site testing and commissioning activities to ensure operational readiness.
  2. Conduct final inspections and verify compliance before project handover.
  3. Ensure completion of required documentation for the successful handover of the project.

Other Responsibilities

  1. Ensure compliance with all company, safety regulations, and local construction laws.
  2. Report incidents, accidents, and unsafe conditions immediately to the project management team.
  3. Maintain a safe and clean work environment by enforcing regulations and site standards.
  4. Support sustainability efforts by minimizing waste and ensuring responsible use of materials.
  5. Assist in contractor pre-qualification and selection when required.
  6. Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure timely delivery of site materials and resources.
  7. Support cost control efforts by identifying and mitigating unnecessary expenses.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Manager or site leadership.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

Experience

Minimum 5-7 years of experience in construction site supervision, preferably in industrial or infrastructure projects.

Experience with contractor management, quality control, and project execution.

Skills

  1. Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of construction methods, engineering principles, and BOQ interpretation.
  2. Problem-Solving & Decision-Making: Ability to troubleshoot on-site issues and implement effective solutions.
  3. Leadership & Communication: Strong coordination and leadership skills to manage contractors and project stakeholders.
  4. Project Management: Experience in scheduling, documentation, and reporting site progress.
  5. Change Order Management: Ability to monitor and control project variations to prevent unnecessary cost escalations.
  6. Safety & Compliance: Understanding of site safety regulations and quality standards.
