Purpose:

is to optimize the IKEA shopping experience in both the shop and store, ensuring customer satisfaction and driving sales. This is achieved by motivating and inspiring the department team through a deep understanding of the IKEA product range, services, local market, and customer needs.

Leadership in this role focuses on performance and delivery, while fostering a culture of learning and development. The shopkeeper is responsible for maximizing sales and profitability within the department by conducting analyses, following up on performance, and taking necessary actions.

Utilizing IKEA tools and leveraging the expertise of team members and colleagues, this role actively contributes to fulfilling the four core tasks of the IKEA store:

  • Act as a highly efficient and staffed sales mechanism.
  • Showcase home furnishing solutions filled with inspiring ideas.
  • Serve as a well-qualified home furnishing specialist.
  • Provide a day out for the whole family.

Accountabilities:

  • Ensure that the right number of competent co-workers are in the right place at the right time, securing their availability to serve customers and actively assist them in making purchases.
  • Based on the sales floor, the role guarantees that the shop is maintained in excellent condition, fully stocked, and that the four merchandising basics are in place at all times. The IKEA product range is presented in ways that inspire and satisfy customers.
  • The team is equipped with comprehensive knowledge about the product range and IKEA services, enabling them to enhance the overall shopping experience for IKEA customers.
  • Responsibility is taken for HFB goals, ensuring that the action plan aligns with the country priorities for the Home Furnishing Business (HFB) and is implemented effectively. Follow-up actions are taken using proven solutions and successful examples.
  • The team actively steers sales towards top-selling products, prioritized items (e.g., overstock), and IKEA service products to maximize sales and long-term profitability.
  • Quick action is taken on commercial opportunities, addressing changes in product availability (overstock and out of stock) and responding to customer feedback (e.g., the 10 most asked questions).
  • The development of the team and its individual members is prioritized, ensuring a succession plan is in place.
  • Active promotion of IKEA's social and environmental commitments is essential, working collaboratively with the team to contribute to sustainability efforts.

Qualifications and Experience

  • High school or higher degree.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar role.
