Job Purpose: The Senior Specialist, Contract Services I is responsible for developing and implementing sourcing strategies to optimize the procurement process and achieve cost savings while ensuring quality and reliability of the supply chain. This role involves analyzing market trends, identifying potential suppliers, negotiating contracts, and managing supplier relationships to meet the organization's strategic objectives.
Key Accountabilities:
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies and initiatives to optimize procurement processes, reduce costs, and improve efficiency and effectiveness of the supply chain.
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, supplier capabilities, and potential opportunities for cost savings and value creation.
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, assess their capabilities, track record, and performance, and negotiate terms and conditions to secure favorable pricing, terms, and service levels.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including procurement teams, business units, and functional departments, to understand their sourcing needs, requirements, and priorities, and align sourcing strategies with organizational goals and objectives.
- Manage supplier relationships and performance, including conducting supplier assessments, evaluations, and audits, resolving issues and disputes, and implementing improvement plans to enhance supplier performance and mitigate risks.
- Monitor and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics, such as cost savings, supplier performance, and contract compliance, and analyze data to identify opportunities for improvement and optimization of the strategic sourcing process.
- Lead cross-functional teams and projects to drive continuous improvement and innovation in sourcing practices, processes, and technologies, and implement best practices and industry benchmarks to achieve operational excellence and competitive advantage.
- Stay updated on industry trends, market dynamics, and regulatory changes affecting sourcing and procurement, and leverage market intelligence to inform sourcing decisions and strategies.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to junior sourcing team members and stakeholders on strategic sourcing principles, practices, and tools, and promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence in sourcing.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, suppliers, and industry partners, and represent the organization in supplier negotiations, industry events, and networking forums to build strategic partnerships and enhance the organization's reputation and influence in the marketplace.
Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Competencies:
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, engineering, or related field; master's degree or professional certifications in procurement or supply chain management preferred.
Minimum Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management, with a proven track record of developing and implementing sourcing strategies and achieving cost savings and operational improvements.
Skills:
- Demonstrated expertise in supplier identification, evaluation, and selection, contract negotiation and administration, and coordination with supplier relationship management (SRM).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data, identify trends and opportunities, and develop actionable insights and recommendations to drive decision making and performance improvement.
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to effectively negotiate with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes and consensus.
- Proficiency in sourcing and procurement technology and tools, including e-sourcing platforms, contract administration systems, and spend analytics software, and the ability to leverage technology to streamline and automate sourcing processes.
